Giants | Coughlin alarmed by soft interior defensive line
Sun, 13 Aug 2006 09:30:45 -0700

Arthur Staple, of Newsday, reports New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin called the team's No. 1 interior defensive line "soft" after the game Friday, Aug. 11. Coughlin believes DL Fred Robbins and DL William Joseph were pushed around too easily by the Baltimore Ravens.

The ravens first team offense drove straight down the field on the midgets and scored. Jabril wilson got burned twice by todd heap, and the ravens were much more physical upfront. I think baltimore may win that division. They finally have a proven QB, and not a caretaker.

This is exactly one of the reasons I don't think the Giants have done much to keep up with the rest of the East. They went all after their secondary, in fact, overkill. They did nothing to improve the interior and even lost Clancy.

They've added some bodies to the secondary but I don't consider anyone they added to be of high quality.

I heard McNair dragged two midgets into the endzone from a couple yards out.

They added a defensive end in the first round when they already had two very good defensive ends.
