Could Jerry actually spend good money in free agency?

He was aggressive in making trades, traded away Micah, received Clark, and he traded for Q. Williams. We also traded a 3rd for GP. Those are aggressive moves, one may not be liked by the fans, but it was a move that we didn't see coming. With that said, can we expect Jerry to continue to be aggressive in making moves that shock us? I don't want to see us trade any of our picks, but I would love to see us take an aggressive approach to FA the way we took in making trades.

I'm going to be hopeful that Jerry actually wants to win another Superbowl and will be heavily influenced by his head coach to make the moves necessary. Please give your thoughts!

How many years are we going to ask this question?

Jerry and Stephen don't mind making trades. They traded a first-round pick for Amari Cooper when they determined we needed a first-round receiver. They traded a fourth-round pick for Jonathan Mingo. ... They have shown they can be fairly active in the trade game. That hasn't changed their approach to free agency, though.

I think the rift with Parsons caused them to be a little more aggressive with trades last year, so I don't expect much in that area this year since we already don't have second- and third-round picks. But I can't see any reason to expect their free agency approach to be any different than it has been. They will authorize McClay to shop for low-cost player to fill their holes.

There's no reason to expect change because we've been in all kinds of positions and it hasn't changed. We've been an almost team in the playoffs that just needed a few players to get over the hump and did nothing while our rivals added pieces they needed. We've been a disappointing team like last year that you think would motivate changes and did nothing other than cheap acquisitions.

I think Williams and Pickens were your 2025 and 2026 moves. I think you'll see some modest signings in the back 7 that may feel like more in years past.

Jerry had better stop _________ around. Little brother down in Houston has put together a solid contender. The word in H-Town is if the Cowboys can't bring a Lombardi to Texas then we will. I never thought they would win one before we added number 6 or 7. We can't be America's team if we let Houston take Texas. Come on Jerry, America was a winner :flagwave:

He does wanna spend and win. His own way, not a proven and tried way. His way. Which is the crux of the issue. However coog, you make good points and ask valid questions. I can see him going crazy this off-season. Our success in that case, will depend on the staff we put together on defense, starting now. We have to find the right DC and that dc is going to need the ability to have his own assistants chosen, BY HIM. NOT JERRY. That's how you build a winner. You start with the foundation, the staffers. The underlings are very key. Spending randomly is one thing, being aggressive in that department is great but it's meaningless if we don't have a big picture plan in place first. That's why we need to get these hires in place within the next 10 days. Hit the ground running. We have plenty of time still...I just wouldn't wanna wait longer than 10 days.

Why in the world would he care about Little Brother seriously we need to look in our own division but the Giants might be doing like first and foremost you're seeing those teams twice a year only our rivals the 49ers and Packers in the NFC all come long before that and then add Pittsburgh That was Cowboys fans most of us can care less what the Texans are doing because they've never done anything when they were the Oilers they did nothing when they've been the Texans they did nothing remember we heard this alleged contender talk when Watson was a rookie and he was playing well those first couple of years you remember when he we heard all that uh oh noise.

What happened with all that that's right it never was nothing more than a lit candle it was not a torch it never went anywhere...

It's nice that you're anointing them for winning a couple of playoff games, that's it, that's all they've done,

that's all they've ever done...

I have no answer for that,

I mean the way they've been talking about the coaching search, and doing things different and breaking the budget ,could just be puffing, it could be they have a few moves up their sleeve.

I mean all that does give you hope but maybe they look at that as the moves because a lot of it was for this upcoming season...

I have no idea if they're going to be aggressive or what that really means,

because a lot of times when they resign their own players say Pickens,JWilliams, and Aubrey along with trying to figure out a way to possibly keep Kenny Clark,

I mean if they do these moves they retain a lot of these players maybe that's what they feel is aggressive...

As Far as free actual outside free agents, I don't know...

what happened to Watson...all i know he got this huge contract and played out of his mind a season or 2 and where is he now?

If he’s going to be active in free agency and hopefully he will be, this is the year to do it, especially on defense at linebacker. Devin Lloyd, Quay Walker, and Quincy Williams are three players we should seriously consider. Bringing in Quay Walker and Quincy Williams could turn this defense around quickly. After that, we can use our two first-round picks on defensive backs.

We’ll need to be smart in free agency and make the most of those two first-round picks. Who knows? Maybe we even trade next year’s first-round picks to get more picks this year. I’d be all for it, and Jerry has done it before.

My thoughts? What has Jerry done over the past 10 to 15 years that would make anyone think Jerry wants to win another super bowl? He said himself that all he wants is to be relevant and interesting - that's his goal each season. Good or bad, he craves being in the news. That thrills him more than winning.

Don't listen to the sewage that spills from Jerry's mouth. If he REALLY wanted to win another super bowl he would #1 - step down and hire a real GM, #2 start taking the HC position seriously. Until either of those happens you should let what he says go in one ear and out the other.

Exactly, but that's what was talked about while we were in real time when the Texans looked like they could be better than the Cowboys in Texas , and it never ever happened and it's being talked about now..

that's my point I'm trying to make is they got this excited about the Texans and overrated them back then and they're probably overrated them now i'm saying are we anointing people for just winning a couple of playoff games because I thought it was More than that you had to do a lot more than that...
