By now we’ve all heard the comments made by Jerry Jones regarding the possible return of Pacman Jones. But could this just be another publicity stunt on the part of the media hungry owner? It would seem that there would be no reason for the return of the troubled cornerback, especially after serving a seven game suspension in the middle of last season due to an altercation with a Jerry Jones appointed bodyguard.

Beyond that, the Cowboys have made a large effort to rid themselves of all of the troubled players they normally pride themselves in allowing second chances. Furthermore, bringing back Jones, could potentially hinder the development of second year pros Orlando Scandrick, and Mike Jenkins. After all, Pacman is a very good athlete, as well as a strong competitor.

Now, having said all that, IF the Cowboys were to bring Pacman back, and IF he gets back into football shape (assuming he’s not already), and IF he can stay out of trouble, he could make a positive difference to the teams push for a Superbowl.

However, at this point with the performances of Orlando Scandrick, and Mike Jenkins in coverage last season, and the addition of Gerald Sensabaugh to the Safety position, the Cowboys look poised to be better in the secondary than recent years.

In the case of Pacman Jones, the potential negatives almost seem to outweigh the potential positives of bringing back the troubled cornerback. And Cowboys fans should be encouraged to root against the re-addition of Adam “Pacman” Jones.

That could be due to wanting to avoid questions about his stadium gm's DWI. Or he's nursing a hangover himself. :D

Jerry loves the drama, he knew what he was doing. He was trying to be funny in a Big Circus kind of way and the media checked him, it was a silly statement to make but from the moment it was brought to my attention, I never once believed he actually meant to bring Pac back.

Not a publicity stunt. Was a silly question by reporter which got a silly response. His response got overblown. Case closed.

between the new stadium and Spike TV's reality, show I seriously doubt Jerry is starved for publicity at the moment.

Not to mention, the team he owns is the Dallas "ALWAYS in the spotlight" Cowboys, for cryin out loud.

Considering that Pac is living in one of JJ's houses I would be willing to bet that they keep in touch and I would also speculate that Pac has Jerry's ear. From what I hear he has been on his best behavior...like we haven't heard that before.

I don't think they should bring him back but I wouldn't totally put this in the trash can just yet. I would be willing to bet there will at least be some serious discussion about this before the pre-season starts....as sad as that may be.

He is a talented CB that if he could get his head out of his *** coul be a nice slot cover guy for someone. I hope it isn't us though.

He is an enigma.

I'm way on the fence on this one. Adam Jones is a Jerry type of guy. He drinks but doesn't use drugs. Jerry doesn't really condone drugs but alcohol seems to not be a problem at all.

He's apparently done everything Jerry has asked him to do. He's good with the league, too.

He's way talented although as I've said before, his athletic talent is much greater than his football discipline.

We're in 'potentially' great shape with our DBs. But we don't know for sure how Sensabaugh, Scandrick or Jenkins will play. And despite the glowing reports (from candy Wade) we don't know how Ball or Brown will do, either. And the rookies aren't even guaranteed a spot on this team although PS is likely the least they will do.

So adding someone who despite being undisciplined can definitely play in this league is not a stupid idea. It all boils down to how the team will react to his being resigned and whether or not he really needs to be here.

This will be a business decision and I think it highly likely it is being considered. Throwing that out there was a great way to see how the public was going to react, whether it was intentional or not.

Real good points jobberone. The more I think about it the more I think JJ has him on ice until closer to the pre-season. That way he will not have to deal with constant questions about him all summer.

Thanks. Personally, I'm against it. But I can see how he would be attractive to a NFL team. He's so high risk. But I am amazed he's been able to do well since being cut from the team. He has to be in treatment.
