Could the Lions teach Stephen how to slice pie?

It's not really all that complicated. You just put the monster cap hit years in alternating seasons so you never have more than one at a time. Dak this year, CeeDee next year, Bland the year after and so on. It's maybe the most frustrating thing about how the Cowboys do business.. They act as if they can't do math or something.
"Act" is the key word here.

They know damn well they can pay these guys.

Doubtful, he is a guy who is a true GM and can be fired so each decision he makes has consequences. The other 2 guys are a senile old man who is also the owner so he does it the way he likes to do it with zero pressure. And the other guy is his son who, if it wasn't for his dad he probably would be taking orders at the McDonalds drive through lol.

Where are all the geniuses who wanted Parsons traded because of "DA SALARY CAP"???
:lmao2:

This genius did not want Parsons traded, especially low first round picks and a player who is on the downward portion of his career.

We'll see how adept the Lions are in signing their key players when they have to negotiate with their two top offensive stars, Jamyr Gibbs and Sam La Porta. Both were drafted in 2023 and will be entering their 4th seasons in 2026.

Probably the greatest benefit a team can experience is when a draft pick on their rookie salary breaks out early and becomes elite.

However, the greater the benefit for the team in the player's first four years, the more costly it becomes to extend it beyond.

The key to the Cowboy's continued success was the emergence of such players in their rookie and 2nd years and it just hasn't happened since 2021.

Looking at the 1st thru 3rd round picks in the past 4 drafts, there are four 1st rounders, four 2nd rounders and five 3rd rounders still playing on their rookie contracts.

Only one out of those thirteen players have given us immediate dividends and that is Tyler Smith. The rest of that group are mostly average, the players that actually show a spark can't stay healthy.

Detroit benefited greatly over the past two and a half seasons from the productivity of their players still on rookie contracts. We shall see if their success continues when they are forced to pay or replace their high-performance young players.

The model to follow is what the Eagles do

When I hear “ we can’t afford Pickens “ it’s laughable . Only the Jones team can finally find someone to take blanket coverage off Lamb and screw it up .
