Could the surprise cut be Cole Beasley?

He's an ok role player with limited upside.

That being said, I don't see him being cut. But if he is, it's hardly a major loss.

I don't think as highly of Cole Beasley as others on this site due...I don't think he's irreplaceable by any means BUT I surely wouldn't ask for him to be cut. He's a solid chain mover.

No, not a chance. Beasley is a proven chain mover and he fills a specific role no one else can at this time.
That is the part that everyone who thinks he could be replaced by Boyd, Byrd, or whoever is missing out on. He doesn't have the same upside as an outside receiver or deep threat, no. But nobody else in the roster has his quickness and separation ability at the line.

But what is that asset really? Beasley is going to get what? 2 or 3 passes a game? He can't play special teams....I would understand why he was cut. I don't think its as insane as others are making it out to be. But if its in favor of Boyd? That I don't see. I see no problem with Dez, Terrance, Harris, Street and Beasley as our receivers.

For the #5 receiver 3 plays a game is a pretty big deal...but beyond that, him being on the field actually makes others better. That kind of title is usually reserved for players like Dez, but if you look at the 2nd Giants game last year they were bracketing Beasley and leaving Witten with the one-on-one coverage. Other teams did the opposite.

Could the surprise cut end up being Cole Beasley? The young guys seem to have a lot more upside than Cole does. Just a thought. I don't think we keep 6 wide receivers. Too much investment in one area of the team. Moreover, the guys we have probably won't make the practice squad. We have decisions to make. This one might be a logical choice.

You done lost your mind.

When Boyd proves himself to be as reliable (getting open and moving the chains) on 3rd downs as Beasley, then you can cut Beasley.

I doubt it. We might trade him.

Guys like Dez. Beasley, Dunbar, Harris - I think (hope?) Linehan has a certain flair for drawing up plays that get these guys open in space and let them do their thing. I saw a bit of that in the preseason, and I know he is not showing all his cards yet.

No way Rudy gets cut. He's part of the heart of that offense.

I wouldn't really care one way or the other on the matter. I think he's OK as a chain mover but I'm not sure what the upside is.

I think more than half of his receptions have been 3rd down conversions.

If something happened to Beasley I think Lance Dunbar could play that role. Dunbar would have more run after the catch ability.

He has a skill set that none of the other receivers has... he is open instantly almost every time. He might not stay open and he might not blaze past the #1 corner but he will beat the number 2 or slot almost every time for 5 yards. It doesn't sound like a lot but that kind of reliability is valuable.
