That is the part that everyone who thinks he could be replaced by Boyd, Byrd, or whoever is missing out on. He doesn't have the same upside as an outside receiver or deep threat, no. But nobody else in the roster has his quickness and separation ability at the line. No, not a chance. Beasley is a proven chain mover and he fills a specific role no one else can at this time.

For the #5 receiver 3 plays a game is a pretty big deal...but beyond that, him being on the field actually makes others better. That kind of title is usually reserved for players like Dez, but if you look at the 2nd Giants game last year they were bracketing Beasley and leaving Witten with the one-on-one coverage. Other teams did the opposite. But what is that asset really? Beasley is going to get what? 2 or 3 passes a game? He can't play special teams....I would understand why he was cut. I don't think its as insane as others are making it out to be. But if its in favor of Boyd? That I don't see. I see no problem with Dez, Terrance, Harris, Street and Beasley as our receivers.
Could the surprise cut end up being Cole Beasley? The young guys seem to have a lot more upside than Cole does. Just a thought. I don't think we keep 6 wide receivers. Too much investment in one area of the team. Moreover, the guys we have probably won't make the practice squad. We have decisions to make. This one might be a logical choice.
You done lost your mind.

I doubt it. We might trade him.
I think more than half of his receptions have been 3rd down conversions. But what is that asset really? Beasley is going to get what? 2 or 3 passes a game? If something happened to Beasley I think Lance Dunbar could play that role. Dunbar would have more run after the catch ability. When Boyd proves himself to be as reliable (getting open and moving the chains) on 3rd downs as Beasley, then you can cut Beasley.

Boyd is my pet cat
No. LOL. His 5'8" stature and his limited upside just make it a valid topic of conversation.
