COUNTDOWN CREW TEES OFF ON T.O.

At the top of the Sunday ESPN pregame show, the talking heads took plenty of shots at T.O. for his most recent transgression, spitting in the face of Falcons cornerback DeAngelo Hall.

Said Tom Jackson: "I personally would rather have someone sucker punch me in the face than spit on me. I can get over that bruise, I can fight you if you want to fight me man up. But in fact if you spit on me that's an insult that will last a lifetime. . . . I don't think that any of us who've ever played this game would allow someone to spit on us without that person having to fight us right now, on the spot. And T.O. needs to learn a lesson."

Added Ron Jaworski (from behind his Vanderbilts): "Every single day. Every single day. Every day it's something with T.O. . . . He just sucks the wind, the air out of your football team."

Even the Pipemaker (nod to Jason Whitlock) chided T.O.: "There is no time that it's okay to spit on anybody. Football, whatever you're doing . . . in life, there's no time, there is no right about it, there is no 'I was frustrated, I was upset, I was disturbed.' I don't care what you were. There is no time that it's right to spit on anybody. And that's that.

Mike Ditka was blunt, as usual: "I'm not big in the advice business. But, Coach, you gotta stop this before it's too late. If you don't stop it now, it's gonna cause a lot of repercussions before it's over. All I can say if I was DeAngelo Hall, I [would have gotten] dressed real quick and I would've gotten right in front of that locker room, and when he came out I would have hit him as hard as I could, regardless of the circumstances. You might think that's unfair; what he did is disgusting."

Chris Berman capped it off by acknowledging that the guy who needs to act isn't Bill Parcells, but Jerry Jones: "Well, the owner needs to step in here, too, 'cause apparently he's -- they have breakfast together, they talk -- maybe that's the one that maybe needs to say something."

Stay tuned.

LOL at Deangelo Hall waiting for T.O. That would have been a replay of Tyson vs Spinks if I ever saw it.

Best case scenerio for me, as just one fan:

This basically goes away after a week.

T.O. takes this as one more lesson and opportunity to do no interviews and focus just on football.

We win out, go far in the playoffs, maybe win the SB, use T.O. for our own selfish goals and get every last ounce of ability we can out of him.

We cancel his membership after the season like the EAgles should have after their SB appearance.

We draft 1 of the top 3 WR's in the first round of next year's draft and sign another bargain in FA.

Next year most of us pretend T.O. was never here and watch his performances on another team with glee and satisfaction.

Funny how this was some big distraction that the coach has to stop, when it happened early in the game... TO, the big distraction, seemed to have proceeded to get more and more into the head of Hall, and than scored 2 TDs... If that is distraction, keep bringing them on...

And nobody knew about this alleged incident till after the game...

Make that two fans, Wayne, who consider it the 'best case' scenario .

D Hall isn't capable of doing such a thing. He's a PAB that finds it better to resort to crying to mommy media.

What T.O. did was wrong, but the sports media likes any excuse to knock T.O.

Hall is a whining punk who T.O. schooled yet again. I love that Hall is being ripped by the Falcons fans.

Who exactly are we bringing in that will draw some double teams, make 77+ catches and 11+ TD's?

Good luck with that one....

The catches and the td's will be difficult to replace, but from what I've seen, T.O. hasn't drawn many double-teams this year, especially not in the 2nd half.

Besides, just because it would make me happy to see him gone in the offseason, doesn't mean we'll be better or that anyone else will be happy about it. I know there are T.O. fans and those who may have even bought T.O. jerseys...I'm just not one of them.

I would love to see a T.O.less team next season, and I'd relish the challenge of replacing him.

It will be interesting to see how this unfolds in the offseason, but for now, we have enough to interest us.

Look again. There's a safety shadowing his every move every snap once he gets past 10 yards.

You can't argue with the numbers. You also can't really believe everyone that sees through the media agenda that has you so well wrapped is a TO fan that has purchased jerseys & such. Be real.

I think you're wrong about the safeties...against N.O. he was in man coverage almost the entire game.

It really depends on the team and their confidence in their CB's more than it has to do with T.O.

We have safeties back behind our CB's against WR's most people haven't even heard of simply because it's the scheme we're playing more and more.

Besides, none of that really has anything to do with the post anyway...it's the opinion of a guy who hates T.O. and will be happy when he's gone, not a fan who says he stinks. I'm surprised you T.O. lovers don't just ignore my OPINIONS rather than trying to disprove them...it's actually impossible to disprove an opinion........

Not a TO fan here. I would never buy his jersey.

That being said, he adds a dimension to this offense we haven't seen since Irvin was here. I actually feel with him and the weapons we have on offense, we can actually score points when we fall 7 or more points behind, as opposed to the past when I felt like it was just too big of a deficit for our offense to overcome. I just don't see the options in free agency to cover losing a guy of his caliber.

What do you consider a double team? 2 defensive back lined up tight on the line against one receiver?
:lmao:
He's double teamed virtually every down. I have the game recorded if you want to check it out and go over the fine details of a double team.

People that support the team player in TO can't ignore your comments simply because they're so off base and ridiculous. You just said it yourself. It's an opinion and everyone has one. I prefer to live in the world of opinion and fact. See my sig for more details.

Does anyone know what the NFL's past precedent regarding spitting penalties is?
