Counter Point to "Spagnola: Let’s Not Assume Drafting A QB At No. 4 Is The Elixir To 4-12"

Spagnola sometime takes a point just to be _ _ _ and this is one of them. His argument brings only data that he chooses to bring up. Since this will be the last time we will be at #4 for a while with a couple of likely good QB to chose from. I support the idea of grabbing the best QB at #4. I think that Romo will get injured some time during the year (say after game 4 for 10 games) as we all know he holds on to the ball too long waiting for a receiver to come open. We now have to put in the new QB into the game. This is the year to do that with a weak schedule, a great OL that is getting better, an up scale running game, and a defense that WILL be better this year. If the coaches plan on this and put plays in that match the new QB we can still go at less 10-6 this year and get into the playoffs.

This is the year to draft Zeke and get a first round bye.

A second point is that Dallas picks of QBs in later rounds sucks. The only exception is Tony Romo and he was the choice of a very good talent evaluater who is now a head coach on another team. In my opinion, if this is not the year to pick up the best QB in the first round, the Cowboys are in for another 10 or more years of searching for another Romo and NO Super Bowls.:(

PS
This means that I will never see the Cowboys win another SB in my life time,:(:(:(

They've tried it and failed miserably before. If anyone should know that, it's the Cowboys.

They had no plan other than Aikman and when he suddenly retired, they were sunk. And we got the fondly remembered Campo years. 5-11, 5-11, 5-11.

If they want to go back to those days, just pass on the opportunity to get a quarterback.

Spagnola, as others do, thinks we have to draft players according to Romo's so called window. lol. Our defense is no where close to elite. And this draft/free agency won't change that. Even if we somehow improve, other teams aren't standing pat, they too will add players in the draft/free agency.

That's what Jerry and Stephen says as well. This is Garrett's last year if he doesn't make the dance. No need to get a QB other than 3-4th round
because Romo is the guy and the only guy that can possibly get us to the dance. If he goes down, no rookie is going to get us there. It's all
about the now for Jerry, Stephen, Garrett, Romo, Witten, etc. so it's either this year or next...

What Spags fails to realize is that any pick at 4 or in the draft period isn'tthe elixar to 4-12.

The elixar to 4-12 is on the team right now. And the elixar to future 4-12 teams could be had

this team spit the bit in 2014 that was there year rookies usually don't make a big impact therefirst year and with so many players coming of major injuries will be lucky if they get to 8 and 8.

Dont think Stephan feels that way. Im sure Jerry does.

I take solice in the fact that Manziel isnt on the team, and Jerrt may not have as much control as most think

Im sure I will be crushed. But I have from now until April to dream

Get us to a local Dallas dance is all Romo will do. We are NO where close going to the Super Bowl. Not with Carolina, Seattle, Arizona, and even Minnesota in the NFC. Oh ya, add Green Bay too.

Well lets not get confused here, Jerry has absolute control and really can do whatever he wants. What we have to hope for is that he is giving that up and listening to others.

That's pretty negative. Yes, there are lots of if's and the biggest one is if Romo can stay healthy. If he can, we will compete and likely win the NFC east.
2014 showed the way for us to get to a championship game. We certainly need some help on defense but, if we can run the ball and Romo can keep
defenses honest, we have a good shot at getting there. We may not be strong enough to win it but, we certainly can compete.

Stephen does not believe in paying big contracts to players for past performance. He said as much at the combine.
He has convinced Jerry that getting into cap hell is not a strategy for building a winning franchise. They are
trying the Patriot way and looking for bargains and I feel that will continue.

I think you may still see some larger money deals. However your likley to see very short term larger money deals. They have shown a willingness to do that in the past few years. I can see a Charles Johnson or a Pac Man here on essentially a 1 year deal ( with one year guarenteed on a 3 year deal or so) depending on if the market doesnt give them long term deals. Something of that nature

"The Patriots way" requires a real HC and a healthy elite QB

We have neither

The Pacman talk was a lark. There is absolutely no interest in Pacman in the Cowboys FO.
