I'm a little curious about what happens to Courtney with the Cowboys. He was projected to go higher than where we got him, and then we ended up switching him to FS from CB.

I didn't follow it closely, but was anything said about why they thought FS was a better spot for him? Especially with Pat already on the roster. Was his coverage just horrible or what? He has good physical tools, and is especially quick for a guy his size.

I like you thinking with the draft, Mike Jenkins will be a nice pro CB...

They didn't like his hips. He's uber-athletic otherwise, though. Could be interesting.

another reason why Hamlin shouldn't be getting a big deal, don't get me wrong, would be glad to have him back, but we have 2 talented FS candidates on the roster

it's just not worth to tie up alot of money in a FS, it will be interesting to see what happens w/ him

if i remember correctly it was something to do with change of direction and turning the hips with his man-to-man coverage. Similar to the limitations that are discussed with Watkins.

But his ball skills are pretty good as i recall, and i remember him making some good plays in preseason

I don't imagine his hips were that bad. All he did in college was man up on the opponent's best receiver the entire game (he didn't give up a TD the last two seasons he played). No zone, and apparently not much coaching (small school ball).

So he probably had below average hips with bad footwork coming into camp, so they moved him to free where that doesn't matter as much to give him a better chance of making the roster. IMO, if he ever gets another look at corner, it'll be in 09 at RCB after Henry is cut.

Kind of what I was thinking.

Let's see how Brown performs in training camp and preseason before we declare him the new starting FS.

If the price isn't right then we may have to. I'd love to keep Hamlin around though, he really impressed me last season. That said, I also think that we could have some pretty solid players in Watkins and Brown. We will see though.

I'm thinking more along the lines of Pat Watkins

you don't need multi-million dollar FS play to win

again, I wouldn't mind re-signing Hamlin because we have the cap space to

I'd like to see Pat play some more, that's for sure.

BLUNTLY Pat Watkins has shown VERY little. We are stuck with Roy for the forseeable future so it is CRITICAL that the other Safety do well. So that is why Hamlin is a must. I really cannot see how after all the problems we have had since 2004 and how much better we were last year more people cannot see the plain truth: WE NEED HAMLIN.

With Watkins speed/ height and leaping ability, he should've been moved to WR from day one.

How many 6'5" safeties do you see in the nfl? Not many. Whereas, 6'5" WRs are coveted.

There is a reason why great athletes like Newman and Watkins are D backs: it is called HANDS OF STONE.

So the fact that there aren't a bunch of 6'5" safeties in the NFL is why there shouldn't be any?

If that were the case, there wouldn't be any 6' 6" receivers either since there really aren't that many.

Generally when you're that tall, you don't have the agility or acceleration to play the WR position. A tall receiver with those skills are the exception, not the rule.

I think it's easier for someone that size to be moving forward to "a spot" rather than moving backwards having to react all the time.

the fact that Watkins is still a S should tell you something

and that we place our FS in deep coverage, the ability to turn and run isn't that important
