QB: Before I get to what I saw from the coaches film on Tony Romo in week three, I have a few stats courtesy of Pro Football Focus that represent just how well Tony is playing: Tony Romo is the second most accurate quarterback this season when under duress. He is completing 70.4% of his passes with zero interceptions when pressured this season.
Romo is also one of the most accurate passers this season regardless of whether or not he is under pressure. If you were to exclude obvious drops and throw a ways, Romo is tied for 2nd in the league with Peyton Manning with a completion percentage of 78%.
Tony Romo is also getting the ball out of his hands faster than ever. Through the first 3 weeks, Romo’s average time from the snap until he throws the ball is the 3rd fastest in the league behind Matthew Stafford and Andy Dalton. Romo is getting the ball out of his hand on average at 2.42 seconds from the snap. In 2011 and 2012, his time from snap to throw was 2.64 and 2.77 seconds respectively.
When Tony Romo only has 5 yards or fewer to go for a first down, he has completed 22 of 24 passes for 155 yards and three touchdowns. His accuracy percentage of 95% in these situations is the second highest in the league.
