That's what I've been saying all along. It's not the team that's the problem, it's your brain.
You gonna get whoooooped one day.

I am gonna keep tapping the brakes until I know for sure this team is great again.
So they had a great year last year. Greatness is consistently being great.
You gonna get whoooooped one day.
I don't see the point in tapping the brakes. There is nothing I can do to affect the outcome, so I might as well just hang on and enjoy the ride.

I am tapping the brakes on declaring this team great. As far as we know last year could have been a fluke.
Wait until you read the posts about our vanilla offense and generic defense we play Thursday night.
By games end you will wonder how we could beat a high school team.
I've gave up on trying to decide if we are any good based on preseason. Last year we looked terrible. And other years, we have looked good. And the results in the season were totally opposite. Starters don't play week 1 or 4. In week 2 and 3, they probably play a total combined of 3 quarters or so. Hard to get a read. And teams are doing nothing to show their hand. Defenses are as vanilla as you can get. Nothing exotic from either side of the ball.
It's all about the fundamentals. And just praying you get through with as little injuries as possible.
I'm looking forward to the meltdowns if Philip Rivers drives the Chargers into FG range.

I never understood the tap the breaks mantra. There's nothing wrong with being optimistic about a team that was 12-4 last year. If not for being robbed by the refs, who knows how far the Cowboys could've gone, even with the suspect defense? Tapping the breaks just keeps you from enjoying the ride. What's the worst thing that can happen? You'll be wrong about your favorite team? What's new? Only one team reaches the ultimate goal at the end of each season. Have fun pulling for yours. Enjoy the ride.
Last time I paid attention to the preseason was in 1989. We won 3 (I think) and lost the last 1 on a last minute field goal. I thought we were going to kick butt in the first game - maybe against New Orleans? I believe we got shut out, absolutely crushed. I think the score was 24 - 0 or something like that. It's all from memory so the details might be off because it's been a VERY long time since I thought there was a correlation between the preseason and the regular season.
Wouldn't a more appropriate thread title be, "Cowboy fans witness team re-learning how to be great"? I mean... I read "Cowboy fans re-learning how to be great" and ask myself whether I retired as a fan of the team? Or was I forced into solitary confinement and sensory deprivation? Or was I in a coma, woke up, and just completed six months of intensive rah-rah "Kraken! Kraken! He's our man! If he can't do it no one can!" therapy?
Just my opinion but I think fans are always up-to-speed so to speak. Sure, some fans may be inherently crankier than others but I'm not sure any fan has re-learned anything simply because the team has returned to prominence.
Some fans or all fans? I 100% disagree if it's the latter. No, I'm referring to the fans, not the team. Cowboys fans are having trouble grasping on to this newfound legitimacy.
That was the point of the whole post.
