Mods feel free to move this as i wasn't sure where to put it. So i'm traveling from VA with my bro this week to attend not only my first professional football game but my first cowboys game!! I know its preseason but i'm still really really excited.

My question is to those who have been to the stadium before. Are there any tips to what i be doing when i get there? Should i arrive hours before the game? We're likely to be uber-ing the entire time so im good on parking but wasn't sure if there are festivities before or something.

I've heard everything in there food & drink related is super expensive but are there any deals on cowboys merchandise? or should i try to get that stuff elsewhere in dallas?

Any overall do's & don'ts i should be aware of when visiting there? any suggestions on someplaces to visit before or after the game?

any tips would be much appreciated!

What area are you staying in? Close to the stadium, or more away from it? And how long will you be here., what days.

The west end of the stadium has beer and food specials and opens a few hours, maybe even4 hours before KO. Can't remember how long before.

Around $9 a beer in the stadium. You can get $5 hot dogs. But if you go the west end of the stadium before and eat, I think it's very reasonable prices.

One of the don't is that you can't take in big bags or any bags in the stadium, unless it clear and see through. And I larger than a certain size. It's on the website about it.
This is actual a policy across the NFL now.

I'll be at the crowne plaza in downtown dallas. Not to far away from the stadium i believe. About 20 min or so

Can't tell you much about that area, if you were in North Arlington, Mid Cities area I could, depending what you like to do.

If you have the time, make sure to use a day and take the stadium tour and bring a football so you can get pics throwing the ball around on the field. You'll never forget it.

You absolutely MUST eat at Serious Pizza in the Deep Ellum area of downtown on Elm Street. I believe it's right at Elm and Crowdus. Thank me later.

As far as the game, wonder around the parking lot and mingle with people. Texans are super nice, and many will offer you food.

One tip people always forget: if it's a NOON game, you HAVE to buy your beer you plan on drinking before the game SATURDAY night. You can't buy beer until NOON on Sundays in Texas.

Albertsons and Tom Thumb super markets are Cowboy sponsors.
They both have a section in each store of Cowboy gear.
While sometimes you can hit a sale there.

As a New Englander, man can I vouche for this. My sons and I went to the Dez pinkie out game against the Giants a few years ago, and they both STILL talk about how friendly everyone was in Dallas.

And we had a blast playing catch on the field at the end of the stadium tour.

Yes very nice. Unless you are an arrogant Eagles fans from Philly....
I worked with a guy in South Florida for a good 8 years. Overall a decent guy, we worked very well together. Except he had a hatred for Texas and the Cowboys. Being an Eagles fan I understood the cowboys hate, but he had this absolute hatred toward anything Texas.

He explained it to me as to why.

He said he came to Texas to go to college, it was a small college, I can't remember which one, near DFW area though. He said with his Philadelphia brashness, he went up to a Texan, bigger than he was, and mouthed off to him, because he didn't like him. Because he was the BMOC.
He said he woke up 2 days later, broken nose, 2 black eyes. He packed his stuff, quit college and went home. Never to return. He said if he ever had to drive west, he would take a week to drive around Texas. :lmao2:

That's the thing; Texans are all about respect. You ALWAYS hold the door open for people and "yes ma'am, yes sir" is very common. We are also curious people, so when you say you're from another state, we're not trying be nosey when we ask questions; we are genuinely curious.

Don't take our kindness for weakness. I've seen people acting a fool, and get messed up while tailgating. And both were given several warnings, but continued on. That's a vary rare thing. I've hung out with fans of other teams a thousand times. We have fun.

Yes. Going to a Cowboy game is a lot different that going to Giants / Jets / Eagles games in their stadiums.

Awhile ago you could park at CVS if you spent $50 there... not sure if they still do that. But if they do that is not a bad walk. You might want to find out where your particular gate is for your tickets because last time I went you could only go through one entrance.
