Don't see the "DeCastro is a bust" posts we used to see here anymore.

Happy as heck to have Zack Martin but DeCastro is an elite player as well.

Stupid Cleveland Browns. I wanted DeCastro in the draft but when we traded up to get Claiborne, I wanted the Browns to take him before he fell to the hated Steelers. And what do you know, the Browns chose Brandon Weeden instead and allow the Steelers to get the best OL in the draft. Cleveland also should have had Wentz and Odell Beckham Jr. too. But no, now we have to deal with those guys twice every year in our division too. Man, I hate the incompetent Browns.

It begs the question: Why have they not got Butler more involved?

The answer: The Cowboys offense is loaded with talent; there are only so many balls to go around and you have to get Zeke/Dez involved because you want to make sure the tape they are putting out forces the d coordinator to account for them. And the beauty of it all will manifest itself in the playoffs...should the Cowboys make it to the playoffs. Once they are in they will be facing teams capable of taking both Zeke and Dez away. When they do, you have to have other players pick up the slack and Butler/TWill/Beasley/Witten are capable of making teams pay that try to take those two away.
I think its just an consistency issue with Butler.

I agree with you that he's had his issues there. But then I look at Williams and things don't look any better.

Me, I'd give Butler a few more opportunities. He certainly looks like this team's most dangerous deep threat.

A few deep shots to him will help to keep defenses honest.

Last year, I would disagree with you, but Williams has been disappointing so far this year. So yes I agree, give Butler more opportunities.

Although Lee clearly makes our defense better, I believe those numbers are also telling of the offenses we faced. It's much easier to look good defensively against the Giants and 49ers than against the Packers and (this season's) Rams. We weren't exactly a great defense with Lee in there against the Broncos.

Amazing that 1 player has made that much of a difference...
Amazing. Scary. Predictable.

Any one of those choice of words is a damning indictment on Marinelli's ability to field a quality defense in the absence of an All Pro.

You expect a downturn without Lee. But the differences are so stark and drastic, it is clear Lee makes the scheme and not the other way around.

I was thinking what does that say about the other 10 players? It is scary that 1 player (non-QB) can hide that many warts...

It is disturbing that the calls could not be made and the communication broke down so badly.

The scheme needs a stud safety, stud 3 tech and stud WLB to really hum. We have one of the three. The 3 and safety play is uneven. Sometimes good, sometimes bad. When it's good we actually look like a competent defense.

Keep Sean Lee in bubble wrap! Open only on Sundays! (Or Monday's where applicable)

And once on Thursday lol.

Dude makes a huge difference back there. Other than that one stinker, we know which one, he has played very well once again.
Bubble wrap and a hyperbaric chamber. Get it done Jerry

Perhaps that's part of it. But like I said, even if that is an issue, we still have an embarrassment of riches at the skills position and there are only so many balls available in a game. As it stands, much like Jaylon, Butler is an ideal reliever. He might not be great enough to start, but as a fourth (fifth if you consider WItten) option, he is likely one of the best in the game.

It's not just the one player, though. We also played terrible offenses in AZ, NY, and SF with Lee in the game, and good ones in the Rams and Packers with him out. :)

You can include Denver in the terrible offenses group with Lee in the game.
