Don't see the "DeCastro is a bust" posts we used to see here anymore.
Happy as heck to have Zack Martin but DeCastro is an elite player as well.
Really nice accuracy here on back shoulder throw
I think its just an consistency issue with Butler. It begs the question: Why have they not got Butler more involved?
The answer: The Cowboys offense is loaded with talent; there are only so many balls to go around and you have to get Zeke/Dez involved because you want to make sure the tape they are putting out forces the d coordinator to account for them. And the beauty of it all will manifest itself in the playoffs...should the Cowboys make it to the playoffs. Once they are in they will be facing teams capable of taking both Zeke and Dez away. When they do, you have to have other players pick up the slack and Butler/TWill/Beasley/Witten are capable of making teams pay that try to take those two away.
I think it's Lee AND Hitchens.Amazing that 1 player has made that much of a difference...

Last year, I would disagree with you, but Williams has been disappointing so far this year. So yes I agree, give Butler more opportunities.I agree with you that he's had his issues there. But then I look at Williams and things don't look any better.
Me, I'd give Butler a few more opportunities. He certainly looks like this team's most dangerous deep threat.
A few deep shots to him will help to keep defenses honest.

I said it before the season and this is proof. He's the one non-QB we can least afford to lose.Amazing that 1 player has made that much of a difference...

Any one of those choice of words is a damning indictment on Marinelli's ability to field a quality defense in the absence of an All Pro.
You expect a downturn without Lee. But the differences are so stark and drastic, it is clear Lee makes the scheme and not the other way around.
I was thinking what does that say about the other 10 players? It is scary that 1 player (non-QB) can hide that many warts...
The scheme needs a stud safety, stud 3 tech and stud WLB to really hum. We have one of the three. The 3 and safety play is uneven. Sometimes good, sometimes bad. When it's good we actually look like a competent defense.Amazing. Scary. Predictable.

Keep Sean Lee in bubble wrap! Open only on Sundays! (Or Monday's where applicable)
Perhaps that's part of it. But like I said, even if that is an issue, we still have an embarrassment of riches at the skills position and there are only so many balls available in a game. As it stands, much like Jaylon, Butler is an ideal reliever. He might not be great enough to start, but as a fourth (fifth if you consider WItten) option, he is likely one of the best in the game.I think its just an consistency issue with Butler.
It's not just the one player, though. We also played terrible offenses in AZ, NY, and SF with Lee in the game, and good ones in the Rams and Packers with him out.
