On Tyron, I'm no back expert. Is tightness one of the symptoms of the bulging disk, or is this something else?

I do know that surgery on bulging disks is rarely "successful", if success is defined as returning to the previous version of yourself.

I had herniated disc surgery in the mid-90s and I was fine after the surgery.

I think people over-exaggerate how ineffective back surgery can be.

This article would undercut the notion that disc surgery is largely "unsuccessful".

Were you playing pro sports?? No insult intended.

Does returning to the country club count? LOL.

I was hit in my lower back pretty hard back in my early 20s. About 6 months later, I started getting some back pain and tingly at times, numbness at times down my left leg. Got progressively worse. I tried injections, exercise and stretches and all just were temporary fixes.

Had the disc surgery about a year after getting the initial symptoms and have never experienced the issues I had before. About once a year I might get some slightly numbness down the right leg because then they cut out the disc, they left a small portion in there because they didn't want to cut to close to the spinal cord. So if I sleep wrong or sit wrong, I might shift it but it's often very temporary, a day or two at most.

Within 6 months, I was back to playing golf a few times a week, playing some adult league baseball teams for a few years, etc.

So in reality, no, I wasn't asked to do what Smith would be asked to do, but then again, I had my surgery over 20 years ago and they probably have had made some really great advancements in disc surgery since then.

Oh I know the surgery "works" and is successful in terms of alleviating pain and returning you to a very functional and normal life. I have a lot of friends and colleagues who have had successful disk surgery. But all of them who were once athletes, including two who were professional hockey players at the time, all say they never returned to their pre-surgery self on the court or the rink. I know it's a small sample so if Tyron has to go that route of course I hope the best.

I'm glad you are back to doing what you like. Isn't it awesome to live in the modern times?

No Lee means GB scores at least 35

With Lee, they still score 35. The difference is they'll be coasting in the fourth quarter instead of having to score that final TD late to finish off the game.
