OXNARD, Calif. — When it was revealed that Darren McFadden would start training camp on the physically unable to perform list with a hamstring injury, there was an outcry on social media from fans – some of whom no doubt felt schadenfreude about the running back’s latest woes.

  • McFadden has missed 29 games and has suffered 15 injuries in his NFL career, so the narrative about him has been established. He knows it and bristles when it’s presented to him again.

“People feel like I am just collecting a check,” McFadden, 27, said. “But it’s just something I don’t even pay attention to. I know the type of guy I am. I know what type of player I am. So anything outside these four walls, I don’t even pay attention to it. It’s hard to at times. But at the same time you have to be a pro about it and I know how to approach the game. I know what I can do when I am on the field.

He was in a tandem backfield in Arkansas and now he can have the same w us. Oakland expected him to bet he workhorse when he's not capable of that. He can get 10-12 touches a game and do well for us. I think

Never thought of it that way but you might be on to something....

If he started working on his chicken legs, that.might be a start.

He does not have the build of a successful NFL back.

Does he even do leg day bro?

One thing fans don't seem to realize is that McFaddin is hungry. Hungry for a decent contract. He has a lot to prove to gain that type of contract and that bodes well for the Cowboys.

I hope he has something left... and he's a pretty powerful back and a punishing runner... not sure where the soft stuff comes from...

count me in as one of his critics. I think mcfaddon is here also to just collect a check just like he has his first seven years with Oakland. I have no hope for the guy right now. he is doing what he did in Oakland and finding ways to get out of training camp. then when the season begins he puts together maybe a big play here and there and then once midseason hits he disappears. I really hope that randle can handle the load or else I hope we get someone else at the end of preseason.

yes seriously. I think that the guy is a total waste of a roster spot until he does something for the team. he has wasted seven years in nfl so far to me. a top five pick who has never lived up to his potential.

What's wrong with just collecting a check? If the payer is willing to pay the employee... Don't attack the symptom, attack the cause.
