My biggest worry with Gregory is the NFL's outdated stance on marijuana. He clearly loves the game and can't wait to play. Just pray he doesn't get caught doing something totally harmless.
People have to stop mentioning Gregory's weight non issue.
If he does then he has a real problem and needs to seek help. I agree weed is not a big deal and certainly not worth losing millions of dollars over. Come of if you had to make a choice get high or play football and make millions what would you choose.
It's not a "choice to get high or play football." It's a choice between living with anxiety or not. It shouldn't be illegal, and the NFL should stop suspending players for doing something less harmful than drinking alcohol. But we're still in the stone ages there. Actually, in the stone ages, they probably smoked all kinds of stuff.
No it is a choice to get high or not, you saying it should not be legal fine but reality it is illegal and he like any other player are subject to testing if he fails then he sits and loses money. It is fine to have a believe but then you must deal with what is the reality on the ground right now not what you wish
I hate the idea of succumbing to an unjust rule just because it is a rule. I wish more players spoke out and fought for this type of thing considering the amount of players that do it.
People and players can take RX drugs that are more harmful to the body totally legally with no repercussions.
Marijuana IS medicine for some. The NFL is in the wrong here, not the players who smoke.
Fine but again that is your wish vs reality. reality is what we deal with not what we want or wish for. He has a career that can make him millions vs getting high. No brainer there. Hell I make a lot less and gave up smoking weed because my job that pays 50,000 a year requires it. So my choice was do I want my job and my paycheck or getting high. Was not that damn hard to figure out.
Again, it's not just about "getting high" when it's used as medicine. I'd rather smoke for anxiety than put a pill with worse side effects in my body.
There are other medications that can be taken for anxiety and yes it is about getting high and the rules. Damn it is not that hard to figure out what is real and what is what you hope for. What you hope means nothing what is real is what NFL players MUST abide by. Gregory talked about it understands it and has said he is not going to do it.
I have measured expectations for Gregory this year, most rookie DE's don't put up big numbers their first year. That was one of the reasons I was a fan who campaigned so vigorously for the team to sign Greg Hardy. I just hope Gregory continues to learn and improve and keeps his head on straight.
There was a comment on one of the talk shows the other day and someone made a great point. They said that the Cowboys are so stocked with talent that although they were fortunate enough to acquire 3 first round talents in this year's draft, none of those players may be starting when they face the Giants in week one.
Not that they won't contribute, but that the players in place are so good that these talents might not be able to replace them. For me, it's a great thing to hear, and a great 'problem' for this team to have.

You can find exception with all things, Yes guys like Freeney and Jason Taylor had great success how many failed in the NFL. no one talks about players who fail. My hope is Gregory is one of the exceptions. I like the fact he is putting in the work, I like the fact he knows he has to bulk up. It just seem funny that exceptions are always thrown out there. It is like saying guys who are 5'03" can make it in the NBA since Muggsy Bogues did it.
