Cowboys 2006 first-round pick Bobby Carpenter has moved to inside linebacker.

He'll likely back up Akin Ayodele and Bradie James there. Both starters are locked up with long-term contracts, so it looks like Carpenter will be coming off the bench for quite a while and helping on special teams.

Yeah thanks for the update...It's over on the DailyZone side. Been a topic of discussion for a while now.

I buy this about as much as I buy Ellis having a full-time role at OLB opposite Ware.

The simple fact is, if the coaching staff doesn't have the best players on the field for whatever reason (especially contract details), then they aren't doing their jobs. Now, that being said, If James' play improves to the point that he can outplay the faster, more athletic, and hungrier Carpenter...then so be it. The same goes for Ellis.

...but stating this as fact before our first mini-camp is even over is lame. Lets see what the word is after two preseason games. JMO.

How much some player is making is not going to count when it comes down to who will be playing more. Its all about who produces on the field. If Carp looks better he will start- no matter how much James is paid.

God I hope you are right; I would be very angry if we put out players with larger contracts out on the field instead of the best player. If that happens then we know Phillips has absolutely no control of this team as a HC.

I really would be dissapointed If Carp had to be pigeon-holed into a role, I would love to see him move all around the LB spots.

I think we should wait until preseason; however, Ellis and James need to prove alot to this coaching staff which has really never seen them play in person prior to this; Carp and Burnett hav legit shots at all the starting spots alon he LB spots. ( I am not saying this is likely or unlikely, I am just stating an opinion)
