Camp fodder for Friday night, doubt either one has a chance even for the PS:

While Wade Phillips isn’t sure who will start at right cornerback between Mike Jenkins and Orlando Scandrick, he knows he doesn’t exactly want to play either one this week in Minnesota. Obviously, the same goes for left corner Terence Newman.

And so with Alan Ball suffering a concussion last week, rushing him back on a short week and playing him the whole game isn’t a great idea either.

So the Cowboys had to add some help at cornerback, claiming DeAngelo Willingham off waivers from the Bucs. Willingham, a rookie free agent from Tennessee, was cut by Tampa Bay after its last preseason game.

The Cowboys also signed cornerback Jeremy Haynes, who went to camp with the Tennessee Titans but was cut on Aug. 11. Haynes was a rookie free agent from McNeese State.

It’s unlikely any of these guys has a real shot to make the team, and even the practice squad could be a long shot. But Haynes and Willingham should get plenty of reps Friday night against the Vikings.

Even if Ball plays, the Cowboys would be down to just Mike Mickens and Courtney Brown at cornerback. Although DeAngelo Smith has played some corner, they need him at safety with Hamlin now out.

As I mentioned in another thread, they're nothing more than warm bodies to get through the minnesota game, Dallas doesn't want Newman, Scandrick and Jenkins playing alot, if at all in this game risking injury and since ball has a comcussion, the cowboys are thin for this game with only Mickens and Smith available at corner. It will be a one and done game for these two signings

You mean we didn't sign Willingham in order to learn all of the Bucs' secrets?

Interesting that Willingham was just on the Bucs, our Week 1 opponent. A bit of that industrial espionage at work perhaps?

That final preseason game is hardly worth watching, which is typical for all teams. I'll be in front of my TV though with Dr. Pepper in hand. Maybe I'll drink two. One for me and one for Cbz40.
