It's interesting. Say a third and a huge new contract commitment for a player of questionable long term worth. It's tempting, but I think I'd prefer we not load up on deals for question marks. We'd have to be pretty sure he's a great fit at that spot for the next four years.

Absolutely. We aren't getting a player of his quality in the 3rd, and it'd bring DT from a huge weakness to a strength with Fairley and Melton lining up. I'm comfortable with Selvie/Spencer at one DE spot, and if we are able to bring in a rookie at the other slot our d-line could experience a marvel one-year turn around.

I also don't believe it'd be ridiculous to think that Detroit would accept a 3rd round pick. It's plausible.
