Mathews is excellent out of the backfield catching passes, exactly what Dallas had envisioned Dunbar as becoming, but Dunbar gets hurt... Mathews is healthy.
Why would anyone be opposed to adding a proven vet and another Romo insurance asset.
Chip was and is an idiot at this level, and totally misused Mathews true value.
The Cowboys finally figured out that having a relief valve for Romo with a pass catching RB like Dunbar can keep their franchise QB from getting hammered.
Mathews is essentially a healthy, better, bigger Lance Dunbar.
Im not understanding the hate here,, just misinformed posting.

I don't think it's that. I think it's more along the lines of the Eagles being willing to give up Matthews, especially to the Cowboys.

Honestly I'd rather have him than any of the vets currently on the roster. Pair him with a rookie RB. But it simply makes no sense now.

Would you do that for a Ronald Leary,, str8 up?

I don't know. It depends on the contract demands and what we draft. Right now, I wouldn't do that. If we don't address RB in the draft, then I might consider it if the opportunity is real.

Seriously, the haters can hate all they want, but this team has Tunsil sitting there and grabs him, and then trades Leary or makes some move to obtain Mathews.
Now we have without argument, Im sorry,, if you dont agree bring the proof..... the BEST OFFENSIVE LINE ever created in the history of the NFL..
and a backfield of proven vets in Dmac, Morris, and Mathews,, and people will be crying about not drafting a rook back with the 4?

How low would Tunsil go if we traded down? I'd trade our #4 pick to the eagles for a bunch of picks. Then go rounds 2-4 with getting defensive ends or dlinemen. The draft is deep with defensive linemen. Or don't trade with the Eagles and take Tunsil at 4 and go rounds 2-4 with defensive help.

I think keeping Romo upright is the key to next season, having the best offensive line in the league will be an asset. Especially with giants upgrading their pass rush the way they did and having JPP for the whole year. Just a thought.

One more thing, I'm not too familiar with Tunsil, so I don't know much about him or his talent level. I'll look him up to get a better idea.

Maybe Jerry wants Zeke and this is his smoke screen so people don't think we want to draft a rookie, thus they won't move up. That's my wild leap conspiracy of the day.

You read my mind. I smell a smoke screen. How better to make your main competitor for Zeke feel you're not drafting him than to inquire about trading for their RB?

FISH
if you give me Matthews, I'll take him.
But consider the source's track record on these reports.

Hate what? No way is Jerry paying all our cap space on another OT with what we have to do with Frederick and Martin soon.

Dunbar Blew his knee out 3 ways..

Some of you guys make me want to hurl on my dog.

Since when did Mathews become reliable? He's battled injuries his whole career. His inability to stay healthy is a red flag to me.

Not very. He's pretty great. People compare him to Tyron.

He'll do alright year one then dominate as he adds another 10 lbs

I would have thought this as well....but I just don't see us passing on other areas of real need to draft Zeke when we just added Morris. Before Morris I was hopeful...after that signing It looks like we are planning to either go with a late round back or stay with McFadden, Morris, and Dunbar. Maybe Jerry got his fill of McFadden last year and would actually let him go....

It sucks that Zeke is saying the eagles have shown the most interest in him. I don't want him in Philly or NY.

Don't worry, he's not getting past us at 4. Eagles will have to go big (i.e. trade up to #2) or go home. Put me on the Elliot bandwagon, just a terrific north-south runner. Terrific. He is Emmitt 2.0. I've said many times that what makes RBs great is the ability to change direction without losing speed. He has this in surplus. He reminds me so much of Emmitt, it isn't even funny.

All of this points to a 2017 RB, and Dallas finally looking at the Draft in a real prudent way.

Very encouraging for the well informed connected Fan, next year is a banner year in the Draft to select RB.
Well were trading next year's first so no first round back for Dallas next year
