I don't. I think Dak needs all the game reps he can get to work on his form. The times when his passes have been off were due to him not setting his feet or going up on his tiptoes. It's easy to revert to those things under pressure so it would be good for him to practice under duress.
You can't play him unless you play the first string offense. Letting him play with scrubs that won't make the team is not smart.

Per the Herd.

I think it's the right move.
So let me get this straight. Play Romo in a meaningless game is the right call, sitting all of the starters including a rookie QB who needs reps in another meaningless game? Cool

I think it is common around the league to sit starters in the final pre season. As it stands now Dak is the starter and he and the other starters should be focusing and working to get ready for NY

Im mixed. He needs reps, but wed also be giving the giants more film. Honestly dont think it would have a dramatic effect either way.

HOU playing their starters? If they are they're stupid for risking injury from a bunch of kids fighting to keep their dream alive. Scrubs against scrubs, that's all the game is good for and very few decisions are made because of this useless game. They already have tickets on the 3:10 to Yuma for 95% of the passengers. If the 3rd game is the "dress rehearsal", which Belichick called nonsense on, then the 4th one is the "practice squad" game.

If Showers does well with the scrubs then we probably don't sign a vet FA QB which frankly is a good thing.

I agree, however, what would be the point if the first team o-line, first team WRs, ect aren't in the game.

He'll experience far more duress without the line. Of course, that would also subject him to more hits and the possibility of being injured. He played without the first-teammers in part of the Seattle game and that's when some of the technique issues seemed to show. I see the risk being worth it to continue to get him to focus on his technique.

If Dak plays, so does the starting OL, and that aint happening.

I don't think that's necessary. He can play behind the second-team line, endure some pressure and work on the mental aspect of the game. Despite having this great line, teams are going to find ways to pressure Dak in the regular season and he needs as much mental prep as he can get.

I wouldn't play Morris either.

I could live with playing Morris if Dak plays. Otherwise there's no real point and we need to see as much of Jackson as possible to determine if he should be kept over Dunbar or McFadden.

Mebbe, but Dak is no longer a rookie project. He's QB1 of the Dallas Cowboys, and putting him in a preseason game behind a bunch of guys who will be out of football come Saturday is a roll of the dice I'm not willing to make. Doesn't matter how many reps he's gotten if he's standing on the sideline in civvies and a boot.
