So let me get this straight. Play Romo in a meaningless game is the right call, sitting all of the starters including a rookie QB who needs reps in another meaningless game? Cool
Romo was playing in a game where the majority of the league plays their starters at least a half, and considering he misses most of last season he needed it. This actually isnt news since none of the starters ever play in the last preseason game

Mebbe, but Dak is no longer a rookie project. He's QB1 of the Dallas Cowboys, and putting him in a preseason game behind a bunch of guys who will be out of football come Saturday is a roll of the dice I'm not willing to make. Doesn't matter how many reps he's gotten if he's standing on the sideline in civvies and a boot.

Bingo. And he'd be playing one or two series against a defensive unit composed primarily of non-NFL players. No point to risk it.

Since Dak gets the most snaps during practice and will continue to do so, there's no need for him
To take snaps with guys who are still auditioning for jobs.

Smart move............Dak is a starter now so you don't play him unless all the other starters are on the field, including our oline and Dez.

Obviously that is not happening in the last preseason game, so all the starters sit, including Dak.

So it's Jameill Showers getting the start behind a likely o-line of Chaz Green, Jake Brendel, Joe Looney, Boston Stiverson, and Bryan Witzmann.

And if Showers gets hurt, we run a full house backfield with direct snaps to Darius Jackson?;)

Good chance for those bubble guys to show what they got and for the back ups to get some snaps at game speed. Also a chance to check out other teams for any decent players that may end up being cut.

I actually watch a lot of the last preseason game for that very reason. We could see the first glimpses of a player that's going to be an eventual starter, and, after all, it's still Cowboys football.

we are already on our third qb of the season. I don't have a problem playing it conservative considering our luck to date
That's really depressing when you consider the season hasn't started yet
