Before I begin, mods, feel free to move this.

I have been watching TV the last few days, esp. the sports channels and all they ever say is that the Saints are "America's Team". I'm about to blow my stack about this. First of all, I do feel bad about the Saints losing their home along with all of the other victims of Hurrican Katrina. However, I'm sick and tired of the sports media referring to them as "America's Team."

They are not "America's Team", they are the team america feels sorry for. I don't mean to sound harsh but that is the way it is to me. I'm just fed up with the media building these guys up as "america's team" because they are not. If the hurricane had not hit New Orleans, this crap would not be happening. I swear it is so ridiculous. I'm just absolutely furious with the sports media and their anti-cowboy bias, it's stupid. :bang2:

The Cowboys are "America's Team", not any other team in the NFL, period.!!!!

Thanks for letting me vent.

It's alright Cowboy 4322 ...you can have the title. But, to be perfectly honest with you, I believe that the team that walks away with the Lombardi trophy should claim the title until dethrowned.

They call that team World Champs, the title of Americas Team not one we gave ourselfs has been reserved for the Cowboys. Start talking to anyone about football and bring up Americas Team and that person knows who you are talking about.

America's Team is just an unofficial title. Who cares. The only title I care about is Superbowl Champions. Everything else is meaningless.

I agree that the Saints aren't America's football team, but I will be rooting for them to win tonight against the Giants.

I have sympathy for the victims of the terrible event, but the Saints were in San Antonio they all have jobs, insurance and the ability to rebuild easily.

Now I couldn't care less about the title "America's Team" I just think the Saints are getting a little too much sympathy. I also think it's **** that the Saints have to play at the Giants.

I think all you whiners who cry about "anti Cowboys bias" are quite frankly, idiots.

You're the only reason there's anti Cowboys "bias".

I would say the Saints are America's Team. If the Cowboys dont win it all, I am going to be rooting heavily for the Saints.

Besides, when that name was first bestowed upon us, the players hated that name...

Say what?!? Oh I didn't know that bit of trivia. Could you elaborate on that? Or are you just trying to make your point?

Tom Landry did not like the name, I never heard players say it but did hear Tom say it because he felt it motivated the other team. Tex on the other hand loved it and ran with it

Yes, alot of the players didnt like that name being bestowed upon them. It may them feel like "Goody-Too Shoes" and just pissed off alot of their opponents, especially the Steelers who always felt the Cowboys were soft.

Especially when you couple that with the fact that the Cowboys were the LOWEST paying team in the 70s. So players would be like, yeah we are America's team, but we dont get paid like it lol.

Whoever wins the Lombardi is America's Team. If an Alien team came to earth and we had to play their best team with our best team to save earth, people are definitely not going to pick the Cowboys, that's for sure.

This is an ironic idea. I think the biggest reason for anti-Cowboy bias IS the phrase Americas Team. To say that people are anti-cowboy because now they arent respecting the "title" of Americas team is kind of double indeminty. If they already hate the Cowboys for this or any reason then it is just them taking an opportunity to express their hatred yet further. Personally I wish NFL Films had never come up with that phrase, it would have saved me some grief over the years. Just because we (the cowboys I mean) have higher tv ratings and sell more nfl properties does not mean we have some right to a title which all people must respect.
