Now that's very interesting.

You do know the story behind the nickname, right? Just checking because some people think the Cowboys declared themselves to be America's Team.

This is an ironic idea. I think the biggest reason for anti-Cowboy bias IS the phrase Americas Team. To say that people are anti-cowboy because now they arent respecting the "title" of Americas team is kind of double indeminty. If they already hate the Cowboys for this or any reason then it is just them taking an opportunity to express their hatred yet further. Personally I wish NFL Films had never come up with that phrase, it would have saved me some grief over the years. Just because we (the cowboys I mean) have higher tv ratings and sell more nfl properties does not mean we have some right to a title which all people must respect.

I love the lable, people hated Dallas because we won and we got the national spotlight for many years. Even today not many teams coming off a 6-10 season will draw the rating the Cowboys do. We are America's team love us or hate us but people pay attention to us

Speaking of soft, I consider the Eagles a soft team...they pass the ball way too much to ever be a physical team. That's why when they get in the playoffs, more physical teams push them around and make them their *****.

So keep passing that ball 80-20% Andy Reid...It keeps your trophy case empty.

That sounds like sage advice to me -- ok, we'll listen to you.

NFL Films did that with the title America's Team. A lot of it had to do with Staubach being with the Navy and the so called clean cut image.

To me, I have no problem with calling the Saints "America's Team" for just this one year. The media could call them "America's team" after this season until they are blue in the face, it won't make much of a difference. When you say "America's Team" most people will conjure up the image of the Cowboys in either a favorable or negative fashion.

Dallas will always be American’s Team, no matter what. Nothing anyone can change. The Katrina sypathy will fade over time until a new disaster happens.

Go Cowboys.

I love the "America's Team" label because nothing goads opposing fans when I say that. You can literally see their blood boil.

That and when you mention the hole in the roof is so "god can look through to the see the game."

Thus the reason I love antagnoizing you. ...and you say "we'll listen to you" ...You're on a Cowboy's board, go find an Eagle's board with the rest of your moron fans. Loser.

Mr. Rezz, let me give you something to reflect upon ...

"smart***," and "know-it-all "

"I love antagnoizing you"

"go find an Eagle's board with the rest of your moron fans"

"Loser"

Take a peek at your MB rules -- you've a few, and you sound as though you have some underlying feelings that are "A-typical," average fan dialogue.

I sincerely wish you and your team well.

NFL films tagged them with the name, but it was because when they were reviewing films to put together the yearly film they noticed that no matter where the Cowboys went, the opposing stands were filled with Cowboys fans.

Thus the name, "America's Team"

I have never been too crazy about that name either.

"Whoever wins the Lombardi is America's Team." that's pure unadulterated BS!
It's like Green Bay being "Titletown, USA" It doesn't matter how many titles any other city may win, that monicker belongs to GB. The same thing with "America's Team"... for better or worse, that title belong to the Dallas Cowboys!

I don't know ...

I've been hearing quite a few "senior" Cowboy fans state How they aren't too happy with the tag ...Americas Team!

I've always looked at the name as a badge of courage and honor, but I'm starting to view it as an albatross now.

What exactly is America's Team? Is that the team that people root for if they only have a passing interest in the sport and don't really have any team allegience? or Is it more along the lines of the most popular team in America? Or is it a title that has already been bestowed?

Does anyone recall if they(the media) did this after 9/11 with the Giants or Jets or were they both America's team because it would be wrong to choose one over the other... or were the Patriots America's team then.. because you know...they were winning and they had the red white and blue along with the Patriots name.

It's all media hype and spin, in the end Dallas will remain America's Team because of the history involved with the name and the team. It's like having two immaculate receptions, there may be an identical play, but it won't be the immaculate reception, or "the drive" or god forbid "the catch".

The name and designation has already been given, desired or undesired and everyone else is now relegated to be America's Sweethearts, their fans made up of people joined together by fleeting emotions held for a short moment in time.

Whoever wins the Lombardi is America's Team. If an Alien team came to earth and we had to play their best team with our best team to save earth, people are definitely not going to pick the Cowboys, that's for sure.

I did get you valid point MG58.

But, here we go just for fun :)

...in your scenario, wouldn't it be more appropriate ...

"Earth's Team" ...composed of all-pro teams and Superbowl MVPs for the last
3-4 years

Team Earth coaching staff would be all living hall-of-famers

Bring back the outlawed tackles (face-mask, horse collar, spearing, etc)
