Yes, Jerry Jones blinked.

I honestly wonder, really freaking wonder, why he lets this kind of thing happen? Is it because of the distraction entering camp? He's going to get 3 mill out of Jerry, for what? smh

I don't care about the money.
But how, if at all, it affects the cap is a concern.

I doesn't add to to our cap in any way. In fact, I think it gives us 3M extra. But if we went with reserved/retired we would have gotten back that 3mil anyway, along with another 1.5 in 2015 and 1.5 in 2016, by taking money out of Orton's bank account. (I think).

You're probably one of a handful of people who even give a **** about this at all.

How many days until camp, Jesus.

I really don't care. Just numb to Jones' incompetence as a GM.

Not too thrilled about it.

Orton has proven he can win in this league, and played well enough to beat the Eagles last year.

Brandon Weeden hasn't shown anything. Let's say we're 6-4 next year and Romo goes down for a month. I felt confident that Orton could play .500 football and keep us in the hunt. Can't say I feel the same way about Weeden.

I know he was on the Browns but there is a reason we got him for basically pennies on the dollar for a former first round pick. There is a reason 31 other teams and scouts had little to no interest in him.

I have no confidence that any QB not named Romo on this team can play .500 ball if the defense plays the way it did last year, so I'm not sure it matters whether it's Orton or Weeden.

Wow.... He was gonna retire anyway.... why pay him for no reason? Oh Jerry is why...

Let's get the facts first. As several people on the board repeatedly pointed out the issue was that Orton was to be on the hook for far more bonus than the 1.67 mill that he should reasonably have been on the hook for. His release may be the product of a negotiated settlement

Releasing QB Kyle Orton adds $1.1275M in dead money to Cowboys' 2014 cap and $2.255M Cowboys' 2015 cap, as @spotrac alluded.

There are many differences between this situation and Ratliff.

I know, bro. It just irks me that players like the Rat and this dude can play the system and get away with it. But, like I said, it's not my coin or my decision because I have no clue what the front office is doing.

This was the right move, and expected. So how does this relate to the cap?

I don't see how it was the right move. Now he gets to keep his money and sign wherever he wants. Orton and Ratliff showing up Jerry in consecutive years.
