When the Cowboys selected Oklahoma’s CeeDee Lamb with the No. 17 pick of the 2020 NFL draft and assigned him jersey No. 88, he was destined for the top rung. Having Cooper on hand allowed Lamb time to develop into the the group leader. The time has come for Lamb to assume the mantle of WR1.

Let’s take a deep dive into Lamb’s resume to see how that may pan out for the Cowboys in 2022.

Through two seasons, Lamb has amassed 153 receptions, 2037 yards and 11 TDs. That’s an average of 76.5 receptions, 1018.5 yards and 5.5 TDs a season.

How does that compare to other notable No.1’s through two seasons?

A common discussion of Lamb’s talent centers around whether or not he is a true outside receiver or if he does his best work out of the slot. While the sample size is not large enough to definitively answer this question, the data does show that Lamb was utilized more from the slot but more explosive when playing on the outside in 2021. Lamb had three 100+ yard receiving games in 2021, he played an average of 72.2% of his snaps out wide those games.

I'll reserve my judgement on how he will do this season until I see him as the #1 receiver.

He could be Devante Adams after Jordy Nelson left or he could be JuJu Smith-Schuster after Antonio Brown left.

    We shall see.

Anyone that questions Ceedees abilities to be a #1 is going to be proven wrong. Simple as that.

He catches the ball just fine. A couple less drops would be great. I think people forget that Cooper was infamous for all his drops. Although as a Cowboys it didnt show up like it did for the Raiders.

Toxic is poor choice of wording. I expect him to put up huge numbers in this offense next year.

Huge year for Lamb. Clearly the #1 guy on the roster and now he either steps up or fades out.

I like him and am interested in seeing how he handles the responsibilities coming his way.

If he cleans up the drops he’ll be top 5. Have to keep in mind for 10 of the games in year one he had clowns like dinucci throwing him the ball.

I did not write the title/ I post the article. I look forward to Lamb taking on the #1 spot, after all that is why Dallas drafted him with the intent of becoming the #1 WR. It is now up to Lamb to show he can take on that duty.

No worries then.. Maybe the point of the word "toxic" was lost on some of you. But I got it.. It was Cooper who was "toxic" and Lamb outproduced Cooper last year.. So, it's a play on words of sorts.

I'm with you on looking forward to him being the #1. But in my mind, he was the #1 last year.... Or he played like our #1...
