Brandt said that Parnell will be playing elsewhere next year due to Free negotiations. Brandt had Free rated as a top 5 over 30 FA this off-season, FWIW.

Alex Marvez said that he thought Parnell might have more upside but thought the Cowboys interest in getting Free back on board had more to do with maintaining continuity on an already dominant O-line.

Looks like we will sign our own guys first, then once free agency settles after the first seven days we will look at those bargain DE, DT players.

Some concentration may shift if Murray leaves, we just simply do not know what they will do at RB if that is the case, maybe a FA RB and a draft pick.

Had this signing high on my list (second only to Dez) because of this very reason, Would have preferred Parnell because of age/wear and tear, but felt Free would be more likely to sign for less.

The OL and team LOVE Doug Free he is viewed as a big time leader amongst the guys and makes a lotta key calls on the OL helping the young guys out.

We are close with Free and Durant, but hope these get done, because close is not a done deal and anything can happen yet.
I want close on Dez long term deal to be announced, as well as MCClain and Murray, and even Carter. but I think Carter will be gone.

Parnell had 3 years to win the job, and couldn't. So Free is better to keep. Weems and Wetzel can compete for the swing tackle, along with a mid round draft pick.
