I remember reading the scouting report on him from Bob McGinn and he was the player that would basically let you down.

It seemed very plausible as he had the best 40 time of any of the CB's and has good size to him and yet no team wanted him early on in the draft.

I thought when we drafted him that with his speed and size we may have a good special teams player, but I've been impressed with him as a CB. He really doesn't get schooled much either. The only really bad play I've seen from him was on the DeSean Jackson TD and I think that was more of a brain fart than anything.

To me it proved we had poor coaching last year at the DBs/Safties position. I believe we now have Greg Jackson (?). Good coaching can work miracles regardless what draft round one is picked, as long as the talent is there....

Looking forward for the same move this coming off season for the defensive line. I like Lott, but he is not coaching material to me and is not coaching those guys upfront right...

My son plays corner. I film his games and watch other corners so I've studied a lot of game tape on corner play. It's a very difficult position to play. It's not like back in the day where Lester Hayes and Willie Brown and Mel Blount could just mug you all the way down the field. It requires better technique and lots of speed.

A lot of guys complain why defensive backs don't look back for the ball. Many are taught not to look back. Nick Saban teaches his corners not to look back because once you do that, you're beaten, especially if you're running to either catch up or running stride for stride with a receiver. You have to read the receivers hands and eyes. Only the elite of the elite receivers can keep their eyes and hands from giving away that the ball is coming until the last second.

Anthony Brown played Charles Johnson PERFECTLY on that deep sideline pass.

That one play stood out in my mind the moment I saw it unravel. It takes lightning quickness and reaction to perform that task as he did. Other than that, though, he has the ability, quickness and speed to stay with his receiver and shadow him like mad. Those who are able to do that in the NFL are worth their weight in gold. I'm anticipating a nice future for Brown if he's able to develop as it appears he might. He was fortunate to be afforded the opportunity to fill in for Mo as he did and he certainly is making the most of his opportunity.

Greg Jackson made a difference in our defensive backfield right from the get-go and hasn't let up since his arrival. It's been surprising how much progress he made in a short period of time and I'm looking forward to see more of same as he gets more time with his charges. He's doing great.

Lett is still relatively new to the coaching ranks as yet and I'm hoping to see him improve with yet more experience. If not, his time might be running out if the FO feels the DL isn't progressing as they feel it's needing to. Perhaps better talent yet to come might enhance his image considerably. Let's hope it does.

Candidly, I dunno what we'd be doing without him if he hadn't shown up when he did. He's been a breath of fresh air for our defense. Mo is likely to return before the playoffs, from what I've read about him -- that's another encouraging tidbit as well. This is a team that's on the rise, to be sure.
Also like his ability to tackle on the spot. He's not afraid to stick his head into a receivers face and seems to get the right leverage to pull them down at point of impact. This is a forgotten skill and what I really like about his value as well. Claiborne finally gets it and I wish Carr would take this up.

I've noticed that Carr is doing better than he ever has of late and am encouraged by that. In fact, the whole defense has stepped up their tackling regimen lately to the point that it actually surprises me to see the difference this season. Funny how a team can get energized by seeing their prospects for relevance, image (and contractual value) get spiked as it has.

I'm hoping to see Mo join in the fray about the time we play Detroit. That'd help considerably if he's able to return in about the same form that he did when he got sidelined. He seems intent upon doing so, judging from what he's been saying of late. Here's hoping it comes to fruition just as he swears it will. (The staff has been encouraged by his progress if it means anything.)

I've been saying this for 15 years. You win games with cornerbacks. Even rookies.

Couple that with DEs that make their jobs infinitely easier and you'll really have a defense that'll make their opponents squirm.

Very impressed with him. First year and doing all this, he is going to grow even more next year. Kid has a bright future what a steal in Round 6.

That play on Johnson was one of the most instinctive pass defenses I've seen in a while - it was all ball, perfectly timed and executed without looking back.

As Brown gets more comfortable, he's going to start to generate picks.

Yeah, that was scary good. I was thinking he needed to turn and look at the ball, but he perfectly deflected it as if he had eyes in the back of his head.

Edit: Also, yes, I think he will be great at interceptions one day. He jumped a great route in preseason that should have inspired him, and I first remember hearing about him when he picked off Tony during camp. He's fast enough to turn them into Pick 6's. A girl can dream.

I'm encouraged by Brown's play. Not too many 6th rounder start and make an immediate positive impact. Go Anthony Brown !!!

"Jones’ infamously stone hands"...? I don't really think I've seen Byron drop too many INT's, honestly. I am thrilled with how how Brown has been playing. He is going to be a solid player for us for a long time IMO. He does an excellent job of being physical with the receiver in the route. He squeezes the WR and keeps his hands on him the whole time. His play makes me feel much more comfortable with the future of the defensive backfield.

It really is surprising that a corner with 4.3 speed would last until the 6th round. After looking at what Dak and Anthony Brown have accomplished this year general managers might want to reconsider how they grade players prior to the draft.
