Cowboys defense ranked 30

Zero pass rush plus awful pass coverage is a disaster.

We have both problems now with no reasonable expectation that it changes anytime soon.
Yes the secondary is not built to cover, they are built to jump routes from quickly thrown balls that happen due to generated pressure. If that doesnt happen then you have just a bunch of corners who are not great at covering their man repeatedly getting beat like a drum.

why worry about the defense. It is an accepted fact this team is an 8, maybe 9 wun team that is going nowehere. So we already know how this season ends. Why stress over it each week?

If not interested why bother and stress yourself ?

While we avoided 0-2 and all that comes with that with a win I came away with more concerns than reliefs.

Our defense made a QB on his last legs look in SB form as Wilson threw for about 450 yards. And that was after they were flagged for almost 200 yards in penalties. How many leads did we give up. Truly incredible.

I can’t recall coming away from a win so discouraged. This defense is even worse than I imagined. Could be our worse defense this era . And we’ve had some bad ones.

30th. And one of the two teams is a bottom 5 team in the league

Cowboys defense ranked 13th last year . And same in 2023. And if go back a few years( 2021) not lower than 14th.

As much as I want to make a comment about your inability to read what I said I'm going to assume you just dont know this stat, which was what my comment was referencing.

"Over the last four years, the Cowboys are the league's best defense with Micah Parsons on the field by EPA per play. Across a 1,039-play sample, they're the league's second-worst defense over that same stretch by EPA per play when Parsons isn't on the field."

I would agree that the D has MILES to go. However, we are one fumble away from being 2-0 and beating the Super Bowl champs with no Bland, a very hurt Diggs, a hurt center, etc. I am not discouraged at all. As long as there is room for improvement, you're good. It's when you are playing your best ball and still can't win that you have problems.

so why did the D get crushed by the Packers in the playoffs with Parsons on the field (who registered 0 sacks?)
