Cowboys doing Zoom meetings with DC'S

One of our candidates interviewing with the Jets

Flores will never be an HC again IMO, just like Mike McDaniels. They have been exposed and are best suited to remain HC’s.
I think both will be head coaches again. They were both pretty good for the Dolphins but each had different flaws. But objectively terrible coaches usually get a second shot somewhere and especially if you prove your mettle a second time as a coordinator someone is certain to give them a second chance at some point.

Assuming Flores is a pipe dream. I’d be thrilled with Leonhard.
I’m hoping Flores gets denied a HC position and takes our DC position for the exposure and all of our nationally TV games so he can boost his resume and take a shot at HC in a year or two. If not I’d e cool with Leonhard as well.

My pipe dream is Flores would be our HC but it seems we’re locked in on Schotty for another season at least.

Those look sexy. Can I get a pair? Is this merchandise that Dallas is selling.

One thing to consider

Currently, there are only two teams *actively* hiring for a Defensive Coordinator.

The Cowboys and the Jets.

So, from a defensive talent and awful front office perspective, we are tied for first in being the most desirable destination!

Now, there are seven teams with a HC vacancy that are almost certain to pursue a new DC.

Dolphins
Ravens
Giants
Titans
Cardinals
Raiders

Browns have a vacancy but they are interviewing Schwartz for HC and would love to keep him as DC if he’s not promoted. I imagine he might move on if not selected.

Falcons have also publicly stated they want their new HC to keep Jeff Ulbrich (Jerry Jones school of management).

Edit:
Commanders are also hiring for a DC

thanks for the info and yes i dont consider us a great landing spot. Jerry is doing something, im for it, but his reputation for tihs franchise can not sell itself. Anyone who gets into bed with us, better think it over long and hard.

Eberflus was a scapegoat! No coach out there was going to be winning with guys named Trikweze Bridges starting and the rest of that early week 3 starting secondary. I was like.. .who are these guys lol!!

Gotta get better player talent, not coaching!

I’d bet Jerry’s still rocking the free Zoom plan — meeting hits 40 minutes and everyone just logs back in like it’s part of the strategy. Why pay when you can “work around it”? Same philosophy they use in free agency: stretch the free trial as long as possible and act surprised when it times out.

Dan Quinn made this same defense, a top-10 unit for three years in a row. So I disagree with you. Coaching matters—a lot.

There have been a lot of personnel changes since Quinn was here.

He’s a good coach but the cupboard is bare.

Dan Quinn walked into one of the worst defenses in the league after taking over for Nolan and managed to turn it into something respectable. Once he left, that same unit slid right back to the bottom again.

He wasn’t perfect, and he never claimed to be. But given what he inherited, he squeezed real results out of a bad situation and made the most of his time here.

A few of us talking about Daronte Jones in another thread. Dropping these here since this is the closest we have to an interview thread

30 years it’s pretty easy to see why fans judgement is clouded.
That was not the point. But can't disagree on that.
If a player is signed, and a fan doesn't like it, they use the 30 years to justify the dislike of that player. When in fact, that player is a decent player. It is just not who they wanted.
We all seen that many times.

DQ had Micah Parsons so it's not even comparable and a way better secondary. Yes some of the guys are the same but we've had key exits including J. Lewis, now Diggs who ya'll hate but he didn't really play this year so can't put this season on him. Our safeties were old with DQ and are even older now.

Coaching does matter but we just don't have the talent on defense, I'm glad we will be taking two defensive players with those picks this year and I hope we are active in FA.

Yes he did. So what? So did Mike Zimmer. I'm willing to bet if Eberwuss had him he would have simply dropped him into coverage and not use him.

Way better secondary? This is the exact secondary that Dan Quinn.

I don't know why people here bash Quinn as though he falls in line with Zimmer and Everwuss. We were top 10 defense when he was here with the same exact personnel minus Parson.

No. He’s interviewing for head coaching jobs and if he wants to remain a DC, they love him in SF and he loves jr there. They have a HC and ownership group that knows how to succeed and the defense is talented
absolutely. he is also close to Kyle shanahan and lynch the GM and ownership.
I think if Jerry had hired Sean payton and given him authority the team would be much better. Heck. , Quinn took his Commanders to the CCG in his 2nd year or first year LOL
