If you squint and pretend the Cowboys took Smith 4th and Zeke at 34 the draft makes sense.

I dont agree with you much, but thats a really good way to look at it. And that would give this draft a solid A. Provided Smith can come back to form. Which it sounds like he has a very good chance to do. Heard Jerry isnt planning on putting him on IR because he could still play this year.

Meh. Waste of a pick when we have other needs. As long as the pick doesn't prevent us from going out and truly making the effort to get a real QB prospect in the next few drafts who actually have the potential to replace Romo as a franchise or at the very least above average starter.

I doubt it will. If we're in position to take the next Andrew Luck, we will. That's the least of my worries.

I like the draft so far but ... where are our corners?

I'm a fan of the player in Zeke.

Not a fan with spending the 4th on him.

It's over though.

I'm surprised you detest the EE pick at 4 so much.

I'll be honest, I would rarely support using such a high pick on a RB; but I truly think it makes sense here.

We've used substantial resources to build this O-line, which, as we know, excels at run blocking. I was afraid we would adopt an arrogant mentality of "the line is so good anyone can run behind them"....but we haven't. Taking EE maximizes our usage of the strongest part of our team.

I really do think it makes perfect sense. I'm glad we grabbed the RB who (I think) will put our O over the top. I'm not thrilled that we had to use the 4th overall pick to do it....but I'm more than okay with it. And I think the results will justify it.

Board: WHY WONT JERRY EVER DRAFT QBs TO DEVELOP???
*drafts developmental QB*
Board: WHY ARE WE WASTING PICKS ON QBS THAT WON'T START??

I've never seen anyone make this argument. We bring in plenty of guys to develop. Moore, Showers, McGee and the list goes on.
People have an issue not being serious about finding Romo's replacement. That all we do is draft these guys late and hope they can be someone, which they never do.

You aren't serious about his replacement if you use as little resources as possible and try and cut corners.

All offseason people are whining that we need to address the backup qb spot.

We do that.

And people cry.
Prescott ain't no NFL backup his first season. That's what he'd be looking to develop into after a few years. We could easily get a good backup if we really wanted by that time.

True you need to go 6th round or UDFA

So you name every great starter that was picked in the 6th and after and I'll name ones that were picked in the 1st and 2nd, ready, set, go?
You: Brady
Me: Marino
You: Romo
Me: Manning
You: crickets
Me: Brees
You: skip a turn
Me: Rodgers
You: skip a turn
Me: Rothlesburger(sp), Aikman, Elway, Young, Kelly, and Luck

Considering this teams track record of players picked around now, it's tough to say this pick could have otherwise been used on a contributor.

Therefore the potential reward here makes the pick a no-brainer IMO.

If the odds of Prescott becoming a quality NFL starter that gives you a chance at a title are 5% or more, it was well worth that chance at this spot.

?????? You think this current staff groomed Romo?

Ummm yes.

He had exactly one year starting experience when the current regime of JG and Wade came aboard.

They have been in charge of him for 8 years.

He has improved from a kid with some moxie to a top 5 player at his position in all of the National Football League.

You seem to have Dak Prescott confused with Jared Goff and Carson Wentz.

People are complaining because career backup is the ceiling. The floor is not in the league in 2 years.

No Carson Wentz's floor is not in the league in 2 years as we never saw him play anyone and was on a team that advanced to the championship without him. Maybe ceiling is closer to a serviceable starter, but I stand by the career backup floor thing. He is not Tim Tebow, he has an arm to go with his legs and he isn't arrogant enough to assume he won't need to change at this level.

He's the 3rd QB drafted in Jerry Jones era I believe. That's why people are screaming for a QB.

Aikman, Steve Walsh (supplemental), Quincy, McGee, traded pick for Drew Henson, Prescott...
