So you name every great starter that was picked in the 6th and after and I'll name ones that were picked in the 1st and 2nd, ready, set, go?
You: Brady
Me: Marino
You: Romo
Me: Manning
You: crickets
Me: Brees
You: skip a turn
Me: Rodgers
You: skip a turn
Me: Rothlesburger(sp), Aikman, Elway, Young, Kelly, and Luck

Good for you, you can make lists. Now go figure out sarcasm.

To the 4 posters who have corrected me about the number QB's the Cowboys have drafted under the Jerry era. I stand corrected.
What I meant to say was the post Jimmy era. My bad.

You really like thug QBs.

Living in Mississippi, I had access to all his games and daily media coverage of him. He is known for being a high character guy and that reputation is well deserved. I don't think he has pro potential at all as a QB and it was s waste of a pick, but I know more about the kid than 99% of the posters here and he is not a thug by any means. I will defend his character due to several people that know has spoken highly of him. I am not a fan of his by any means , but there is no need in labeling him as a thug when he is not.

You're right, he's not a thug. He just plays the role of a thug whenever he's not sleeping.

I'm not sure what to think. He essentially played the Tebow role in Mullens offense and wasn't as good at it as Tebow was, but he is far more athletic... It's a 4th round QB, so the bar isn't particularly high.

People calling him a low character guy over a DUI - come on, I'm sure realistically most of have been behind the wheel after having a beer or two. He's young and made a mistake. All other reports have him tagged as a high character guy. Could be a steal landing a 2nd round guy in the 4th over the DUI hysteria. Watching the tape I just don't see anything about his playing style that sells me on the idea that he can be a franchise QB, but he seems to have the raw talent, so if he can put the pieces together than maybe.

Oh, I misunderstood . I thought you was talking about Dak. Kelly has had some problems, I am not denying that. He has been on good behavior at Ole Miss, so maybe he has straightened up. I hope he continues bettering himself. There are not many options at QB next year and if Kelly stays clean, I have no problem with him. I want football players, not saints.

I agree, you don't need all your football players to be saints, but I think your QB should be held to a higher standard.

One thing I never got with the Dak beatdown was where his boys were. You can bet that if any other QB, pro or college, was in that situation, he'd be with a bunch of big dudes there to have his back. I don't know the particulars, but Dak probably shouldn't have been in that situation in the first place, but even if he put himself in that situation, he should have been smart enough to do it with some backup besides a woman.

Bargain hunting for a quarterback isn't the way to win a championship.

The Pats picked Jacoby Brissett in the late 3rd.

Just saying not all teams trade the farm for QBs and actually try to develop future starters.

Franchise crippling decision. Will delay the addition of a quality successor by 3 or 4 years.

Jerry Jones secures his status as the worst GM/Player Personnel Executive in all of sports. Has no plan or real ability to identify talent. Two decades of poor roster moves that will never be rivaled because no one else would ever be allowed to keep making these type of decisions.

Awful, awful decision.

This team used to be the most innovative player personnel in sports and now we are a soap opera.

Dude, it was an ***'ing compensatory pick at the end of the 4th round..........basically a freebie!!!

If he turns into a bust, who the hell cares? Our 4th round pick last year basically did nothing all season except get beat in OT against the Saints (see Spiller burning past Damien Wilson for an 80 yd walk off TD).

Yea, the franchise is crippled by a 4th round comp pick:rolleyes:

When discussing moving up to get Goss/Wentz, the Eagles VP said they made the move this year because they couldn't see a QB as good as they are coming up in college in the near future.

You are listening to the Eagles VP on scouting?

Isnt this the same guy that thought Chippy was going to revolutionize the NFL with his "fast break offense"?

I can tell by all of their trophies that they are just such bad arses when it comes to this scouting thing.:igglestrophy:

How many starters are there in the NFL that was developed? Either a guy has the talent or he doesn't .

Prescott has potential but I doubt he ever realizes it under this staff. This staff proved last year they are utterly clueless when it comes to QB's. Brandon Weeden couldn't win a game here despite a lot of time in the system. He goes to the Texans and miraculously wins games with much less time in the system and lesser talent. This speaks, no shouts, volumes about our incompetent coaching staff.

Dak Prescott
QB, Mississippi State (6-2, 226) 4.77

Overhand throwing motion. Can be accurate throwing to his left. Stands up on his toes to throw. Will slide to avoid rush. Touch for the screen. Some deep as well. Will unload the ball under pressure. Will come back to second receiver. Will throw into coverage. Tends to lock onto receiver. Times where he doesn’t get help. His receivers will drop balls on him. Will allow routes to develop. Tends to hold the ball much too long. Question his pocket awareness at times. Shows arm strength with hips open. Will need to tighten up his throwing motion. Has the physical traits but not always a sense of urgency to deliver the ball. Size and athletic ability to work in and out of the pocket. Will need to develop his ability to take snaps from center and operate.

Given his draft position, if they come across a QB prospect they feel to be a much better prospect in the near future, there's little doubt in my mind that they bring him in. Not going to happen if we sold the farm for Goff and Wentz. Prescott is pretty much in a position where he has to prove he is worthy of being the successor to Romo. He doesn't have the comfort of falling back on the fact that we invested a ton of resources in him and the FO will look awful if he doesn't succeed, so we have to ride with him for the next half decade.
