So would I. I'd trade a 6th and two 7ths for a 4th.

those compensatory picks really devalue those 6 and 7th rounders...as they always do.

Were you just trying to tell me that I didn't understand what it takes to move up in the 1st?

And you are talking a 6th and 2 7ths for a 4th?

I wasn't even serious........and you are :laugh2:

Using the chart, it would take almost twice that much to move up to a 4th.

Average 4th is worth 70 (points, kudos, snickers bars.....whatever they use).....

Average 6th is worth 21 and average 7th....about 8. Whats that equal? 37?

lol..

All of our 6ths and 7ths together are worth about 35 points. The lowest 4th is worth 44. So if you go strictly by the trade value charts, a 4th can't be had, but a 5th could. You'd probably have to give a 5th, 6th and 7th for a decent 4th. .

No way would I trade away those late second day picks. There are always plenty of good athletes on the board right on through the last pick of the last round. The days of the 14 round drafts are gone, but the odds of making a great pick are still there.

I say keep the picks and take your shots- see what you can hit. Now if you can use a 6th round pick and package it to move up several spots in the earlier rounds of day two- sure. then you are going after a player who has caught you eye and may have slipped to within your range- otherwise take your picks as they come.

Look who was waiting for a chance to slap back. Okay, I didn't bother to look it up. My bad. At least that is failure to look it up. Moving up to grab AP should be common sense what the cost would be.

How common is it for draft picks to sit on the practice squad? It seems to me that it happens often since many of these guys take 2-3 years to develop..

I've said it elsewhere and I'll say it again: we've got too many picks. This is the year to trade up. I'd like to see those 10 picks drop down to 7 or 8. I say package the extra 6 and 7s with the 5th to get an extra 4th, which according to some is a relatively high-value round because there is time overnight for the dust to settle from the Day 1 frenzy -- call it the "Marion Barber Syndrome."

You have to ask the question; how many of the 6th and 7th round picks would actually make the roster? I would trade all 5 for a 4th rounder or even an early 5th just because that player could make the roster and contribute.

I just don't see room for 10 guys making the team. So, why not trade them now so you get something before you pay them then cut them?

And what if you blow it with that 4th or 5th rounder?? Are you better off than if even one of those five sixth or seventh rounders winds up making the team??

Take a look at the Cowboys roster, and see how many late round picks they have...

Never mind, I'll save you the time-- in the last three years, the Boys have had nine 6th or 7th round draft picks... six of those are still with the team-- Pat McQuistan, Montavious Stanley, Jay Ratliff, Patrick Crayton, Jacques Reeves and Nathan Jones...

That's two thirds of the Boys' 6th and 7th round picks who are still on the roster, from the last three years... so it's not unreasonable, given the team's success in the later rounds in recent years, to expect that at least three of the five players they could potentially draft late this year would wind up making the team...

So how is it better to potentially have one 4th or 5th round pick make the team, rather than three or more late round picks??

I just don't see room for 10 guys making the team.

That's why there's practice squads... bottom line, the Boys have done really well drafting in the late rounds these last few years, and I'm pumped up to see what they can do with five late round picks this time around...

Well considering the Saints found a guy name Marcus Colston in the 7th round, I'll keep what we have and continue trying to find the diamond in the roughs. Unless you can net a 3rd round pick by exchanged all those 6th and 7th round picks...
