Cowboys ESPN nugget on DC hiring

So, in what world has the Cowboys had anything resembling the Seahawks talent on defense the last couple of years?
Hmmm... they were a top 8 scoring defense 2 seasons ago. They were 5th in passing defense at 159 yards a game.
They were 16th vs the run at 212 ypg, just 2 spots behind Baltimore who everyone one holds at a gold standard and one spot ahead of the Chiefs who won the SB.
Durde was the DL coach and they let him walk despite him knowing and having a good relationship with the players and being well respected around the league as an up and coming coach with a bright future!

Pardon the observation, but to debunk the point made, it's necessary to wade into the weeds so that you're actually demonstrating specific DAL players comparable to specific SEA players. Skeptical that that can be done with any degree of persuasion. These conversations are so surface for so long as we pretend that outcomes are exclusively a function of coaching to the exclusion of talent.

Just me, think we can take Flores and Schwartz off the table.
*Schwartz, from what I have read, will likely follow Stafenski or get a new deal to stay with Garrett and the Browns.
Flores HC even said he expects him to return if he doesn't get an HC job. I doubt he would make such a public statement w/o a promise.
I don't disagree. Might be why we are interviewing who we are interviewing. I won't be surprised if Gannon or Morris ends up being an option, though.

That's why I have trouble seeing us going with someone without DC experience. Usually we like former head coaches who got that job because they were really good coordinators.
How did Eberflunk get the job? Personally I never heard of him before he came here so I just wondered.

I don’t think Flores or Schwartz will be available. Right now I’m all-in on Leonhard.
And I think that’s growing to be a long shot as well

Leonhard’s boss has had six teams schedule HC interviews, the most of any candidate across the league.

And he’s already completed two in three days and has the other four scheduled, so it seems he’s highly motivated.

It seems almost certain he’ll get an offer which means the Broncos are highly likely to promote Leonhard.

Supposedly one of the big difference makers in Seattle according to reports I read out of their media this season was the addition of Lawrence.
If I remember correctly Lawrence was playing here!
I'm assuming that Durde advocated for and received what was reasonable the players he needed to run his vision of his defense.
Much like he would have done if he stayed here!

Let's think through your logic... since we did have Lawrence last season, then we obviously must have been highly talented on defense last season. You sure you want to stick with that... or worse yet, base your entire theory on the idea that Lawrence single-handedly was the only significantly better talent that SEA had over DAL... ???

You need either a better theory or a better conclusion, my friend.

Lawrence only played 4 games last season!
Micah missed 4 games!
No legitimate 1tech
We had Zimmer as DC!
We didn't have Durde!

Rebuilding? Do you really think that Jerry believes he is rebuilding? Also, what team rebuilds with a soon to be 33 year old QB? Jerry believes he is a few players and a DC away from competing.
The LA Rams. Since 2021. When Stafford was 33.

Another person the Cowboys failed to promote, just like Al Harris. Jerry’s ongoing nostalgia for former Dallas coaches has once again come back to bite us.

Lol who wrote that crap? Someone to "tie the defense together." As if this is a defense that just needs a few touch ups, and not the worst defense in the league and one of the worst in league history.

Eberflus. Zimmer. Quinn. Nolan. Marinelli. All considered to be good coordinators but were not-so-great head coaches (although Quinn did take Atlanta to a Super Bowl).
Outside of Quinn, those guys have been terrible. You forgot Monte Kiffin, as well.

Unfortunately for us that was an example where the key was upgrading to a championship level QB. Jerry has no intention of doing that. We're stuck wit Dak.

Jerry will take a re-tread who was fired from another team because of Suckage - - that’s the Cowboys way!!!

As others here has said so many times before most of us here will not live long enough to ever see the Cowboys win another Super Bowl or even a playoff game because nepotism will have these crackpots involved for another lifetime or two or three.

I am hoping not. Jerry won't live forever and he is so old now that several years down the road if we did win a Super Bowl he wouldn't even know it.
