Cowboys expected to hire Chidera Uzo Diribe as OLB coach

Makes you wonder if the other OLB coach interviews didn't go well or they couldn't come to terms since this one came in to interview and was hired immediately.

So Orr still very much in play
Wasn't he being considered as an OLB coach? Not sure who we are interviewing for that role. So far we've got Green Bay's passing game coordinator, Arizona's assistant cornerbacks coach, Minnesota's defensive line coach and Georgia's outside linebackers coach. Other than the Cardinals' coach, we seem to be picking coaches who showed some success in their area of expertise.

No he’s outside. He’s not nearly big enough to handle a Mike situation 17 games. Around 220 LBS .
I don't see it. The outside guys are going to be your defensive ends. He and Overshown should be ILBs in the 3-4/five-man front. I expect James to be a backup, though, to whoever we get to essentially be the MIKE.

*looks up prospects for draft* CJ Allen expected 1st round LBer from Georgia. Hmmmmmmm. ;)

Hopefully he puts a stop to the coaches making it rain and stuff

"Outside" linebackers coach is the interesting tidbit here. Maybe there is substance to the 3-4 rumors.
Probably not. That was his college job title. Not sure it means much as far as our scheme

Going by what he played last year . They tried Sanborn in the middle then Logan Wilson ended up with Murray . James not big enough to withstand the middle . I think James and Overshown outside with a Sonny Styles in the middle 6’5” 243 coming aboard . And in year 3 this is make or break for Liufau . Is he just ST or can he play NFL LB ?

Last year, Eberflus mainly stuck with four-man fronts. I think we'll primarily use four-man fronts this year when we are in nickel (which will be most of the time). If James plays when we are in five-man or three-man fronts, he'll be an "inside linebacker" as one of the only two real LBs out there. Same with Liufau. Same with Overshown. I doubt we will see very many sets where we have three true linebackers out there. We may have one on some plays with an extra DB, but we'll have two LBs most of the time. If it is a five-man or three-man front, they will be considered ILBs.

So 5-2, with two true linebackers and five DL.

3-4, with two true linebackers and five DL.

3-3-5, with one true linebacker, five DL and five secondary.

4-2-5, with one or two true linebackers, four DL and five secondary.

With a 5 man front pressuring the QB which I expect Parker to play quite a bit one of three LB’s can drop in coverage and still have 4 in the secondary .

Or in a 4-2-5 you really have no Mike you have two LB behind the front . James Liufau and Overshown none of these three has the size to be in the middle . Speed agility is more their strength. Love to see Sonny Styles handle the middle at 245 LB and basically help your DT’s and still capable of sideline to sideline play . Then take a corner at 20

This is a very Jerry hire. I bet he can even pronounce his name perfect and everything. Joking aside, Parker seems to be putting together a nice staff so far.
