This story is just now on the local news here in the Metroplex. Apparantly a scam artist sold 8 people the same two tickets. The forgeries were good enough that all 8 fans got in, and of course this lead to problems. All 8 ultimately were asked to leave. I would suggest being extremely cautious when using Craigslist for ticket buying.

Two were Soldiers from Ft. Hood who had just come back from Iraq and drove 3.5 hours up to Arlington to see the game. Ridiculous that all of those people got kicked out, i'm glad its getting some publicity though. I read that Ticketmaster is offering those soldiers tickets to mavs and stars games...but no Cowboys games haha

they should have just let them hang in the party pass area.

craigslist is LOADED with scams. I would never buy tickets to anything from there. one more note...i've been to a game this year and those tickets do not look easy to replicate, so if someone is copying those well enough to actually work....my hats off to that guy.

i buy tickets on craigslist all the time...(Bball......nascar... Cowboys...etc) but ill only buy from people willing to meet in person ...then i write down license plate number....I prefer to pick up at their house if they will let me....feel bad for the soldiers they deserve better ......why do people have to suck? I hope this loser wakes up with a 200 lb Marine pounding on his door to collect on some ***

Last year, the Dallas Stars had veterans as special guests, along with guest (significant other, or child), and during a stoppage in play would allow the vet to give his name, and his/her guest name, while Stars fans gave them a standing ovation. It was pretty cool. One vet who just returned from Afghanistan got visibly choked up at the ovation, and the crowd got louder, and chants of U.S.A roared throughout the building. It was pretty cool.

It would be cool if the Cowboys did something like that.

the Cowboys have troops from Ft Hood at games pretty regularly.

its really not the Cowboys who are the bad guys in this.

i wont say avoid craigslist, but i would say be careful and do whatever
you can to avoid being scammed....like earlier poster said.

Craigslist is basically the wild west unless you know what your doing your likely to get screwed dadymat has the right idea though always meet in person preferably a public place with cams ie store parking lots near the entrance and unless your a HUGE dude don't go alone

Basically just use common sense alot of people want to think the best of people and ignore the voice in their head thats telling them something seems off and end up getting screwed over in the process

Personally I HATE craigslist and only use it when I have to because of the huge chance of being scammed

I only ever use it to help others find something they're having trouble finding the last time being me helping my g/f find a *free* kitten

Back in late November of 2007 I was shooting the breeze with one of my old college buddies who's a HUGE Texans fan. He tells me that he gave away the last of his season tickets to the home games. I give him crap because I told him there's always room on the Cowboys bandwagon for a displaced and disgruntled ex-Texans fan. He laughed and told me this story of why he gave them up.

He's at the Texans vs. Tennesee game with his wife and like so many folks, maybe the air gets a little dusty during the National Anthem.

There's a little girl about 4 or 5 years old sitting next to them and she asks Jim if he knew her Daddy. Jim says, no, who's your Dad?

Little girl points at her button that has a picture of her father in his Army dress uniform. Jim tells her, "No, I don't know your Daddy."

Little girl looks sad, and says "oh." Then she looks at Jim and says, "Because my Daddy went to see the angels in Iraq. Mommy says its okay to cry for the Flag Song because Daddy can see we miss him. I thought you were crying for my Daddy too."

Jim and Nancy gave the girl and her mother the remained of their season tickets.

Cool story. Need more of that or at the very least more coverage of people like that. Its a shame you don't hear of stuff like this that often unless it is through a person. If someone isn't bleeding the media doesn't want to know about it. Work for blood, were the bleedia.

Yeah, its tough enough to make it through the National Anthem, but when I think about Jimmy's gift to that little girl, dayum dust.

I don't see how all 8 could have gotten in. Once a ticket's bar code is scanned, that ticket can't be used again elsewhere.

I hate to hear that that happened, and I agree with the poster who said they should have let them just stay in standing room only (party area).

The moral of the story is that if you get in and someone is sitting in your seats and has tickets, don't go to an usher, just go hang out in the party pass areas.:

No kiddin. Or, if you know someone with tickets and have a nice scanner, you're set for the season.

Actually, you can get your tickets sent to you in a PDF. So you could, I assume, just print out as many of the PDF as you like. I guess, even though they're scanned at the gate entrance, they don't double check whether that particular ticket has already been scanned in. Probably just a glitch in the system due to it being new.

I think the electronic system is set up so that a ticket can't be used twice. After all, what would stop me from printing 2 copies of the same .pdf document, giving one for free to a friend, then we both go to the game? Sure only one of us could actually sit in the seat, but that's a free SRO admission.
