You can cut Church and save 4.25 million. His cap hit is 4.75 and he has 500k in signing bonus.

Just because we didn't make these deals this year or last year doesn't change that these players are overpaid.

I wouldn't have paid a WR that much money.

So a 4 year deal worth 8 million is overpaid to you?

You wouldn't have paid a WR that much money? So you'd go into last season with Terrence Williams and Cole Beasley and feel confident about that? Dez deserved whatever he got. And compared to what everyone else got he got market value.

So you are one of the ones that are okay with the Cowboys not spending in free agency I presume?

Like the Eagirls and Deadskins did before them?

Look...i bagged on them when they were making those moves because they were all wrong. I knew it and said it at the time...kind of like how terrible the Dolphins offseason has been so far.

The Giants added three very good players to their defense and if they only had a mediocre d last year, they would have made a bunch of noise! The Eagles have miraculously gotten out from under 3 horrible contracts, gotten improved assets, resigned their qb(who i think is overated but would have been the top guy in FA) and filled holes in FA.

Both teams are better.

We sit in the ivory tower trying to be smart pretending we are like the rest of the playoff teams. We are not smarter than everyone else...

So the Byron Maxwell deal is wrong but the Vernon deal is okay lol? He's EXACTLY like Maxwell lol. He's like the Maxwell of defensive linemen. Played with two other Pro Bowl talents who got double teams while he cleaned house with 7 sacks. Hardy had that and we were unimpressed.

The difference is, Hardy is a nutball and he isn't. The difference is, i watched Vernon destroy Tyrone and Hardy not.

Now Tyron gets to see him twice a year.

Vernon was not great last year in Miami. Under-performed by all accounts with the local media. The Giants are trying to contend but it does reek of desperation. In the past they have built their teams and competed through the draft. Most of the good teams who compete on a year in and out basis don't rely on free agency like this. Packers, Pats, Seahawks (lately), etc. We've had some solid drafts lately and are one season removed from 12-4. We lost our starting QB, starting WR, and starting RB last year. It was a disaster. You could lose one guy but not all three.

Because they are holding onto their good talent not their coveted 4-12 talent.

Don't be dumb, we are one season removed from 12-4. We lost our big dogs on Offense last year (all of them basically). If Dez+Romo stay healthy, we won't be 4-12. Now that doesn't mean we shouldn't draft a future QB and get more talent on D. This draft is absolutely LOADED on defense. There will be starters into the 4th round....

Also, we are only a few hours into the new season, most of the contracts now are over-inflated crap. Better to wait a little.

I would have spent the money on defense and got a cheaper WR.

I am not a huge fan of Gosselin but he nailed this one:

If these past few years have shown anything we need to add almost exclusively to the defense...

Defense wins championships and honestly we have an average one at best right now.. Draft our QB of the future at 4 and everything after that should be all defense defense defense and then more defense

Tyron had a off day. The guy had 7 sacks lol. They paid for 20 a year. You guys want to break the bank for a guy who was dominant against one person last year.

Defense wasn't the problem last year. That was the offense.

No I blame the OC and our HC for the abysmal performance...

Even Weeden left to the Texans and after a week of practice was able to win a game for them

If the Giants reek of desperation I'd take that over the inactions taken by the FO any day of the week. They didn't even try to sign Lamar Miller and didn't even look towards filling in some gaps we have on defense. All they did was save a bunch of money and want to sign the bottom feeders of the league. Let the spinning begin because I don't buy it.

Last year, the story was "anyone can run behind this oline." This year "lets save money and bring in bottom feeders and below average players." I didn't buy last years fairy tale and I won't be this years PR spin either.

When is this team going to finally act and get its act together? When Romo reaches the ripe old age of 65 and collecting social security? Probably.....

It is one thing to sit back and let the market come to you when you are 12-4. It is entirely a whole other thing when you are 4-12 and let all the talent upgrades sign elsewhere. The Giants got a lot better today.

I'll step right in and say do you really think we were a 4-12 team? Save the "X backup could have won a couple", great we'd be 7-9 and in a worse place today.

If Romo was healthy we were a 9-10 win team. If you really want to argue with me, Vegas over/under next year is 9 wins. There are millions backing that up, which is worth way more than our opinions.

Also important to note is that even with our offense struggling to get a first down much of last year, our defense still finished 16 and 17th in points and yards respectively. How many games did our defense hold out for drive after drive but eventually give in to exhaustion because they couldn't get a break... that happened in both the Pats, Seahawks, and Saints games that I remember and a few I don't. With a decent offense we have a top 10 defense last year... except of course in takeaways (but then again... the best way to get takeaways is to have a offense that forces the opposing team to take risks... we didn't have that last year). From that defense we lost Hardy (probably), maybe Carr (but probably not until we have signed his replacement), and that's pretty much it and there are still a lot of chances to pick up new players. From our offense we have already gained Romo and a healthier Dez and it sounds like most likely a RB at some point and time and lost no one. So in short... THE SKY IS NOT FALLING, HAS NOT FALLEN, AND WE ARE DOING EXACTLY WHAT THE TEAMS THAT ARE CONSISTENTLY AT THE TOP OF THE LEAGUE CONSISTENTLY DO.
