I have heard jason cole on interviews before, and he seems like he knows a little bit about the game, not saying that I agree with this article, but he does get paid for his opinion.

and Doug free got paid to play football. That means NOTHING

Here's Cole's review of Seattle's 2012 draft:

Seattle Seahawks
Picks: OLB Bruce Irvin, ILB Bobby Wagner, QB Russell Wilson, RB Robert Turbin, DT Jaye Howard, LB Korey Toomer, CB Jeremy Lane, SS Winston Guy Jr., DT J.R. Sweezy, DE Greg Scruggs
Grade: D-
Analysis: I have a great deal of respect for the work of John Schneider, but I don't understand this draft. Of eight teams (five of which drafted after the Seahawks) that were surveyed, none graded Irvin as a first-round pick. Yes, he has talent, and he could become great. He also might be a guy who burns out in two years because there are plenty of people who question his dedication. After that, the Seahawks spent a third-round pick on Wilson even though the history of QBs under 6-foot is poor, to say the least. You don't spend a third-round pick on a guy who'll be lucky to be Seneca Wallace. You also don't do that after signing Matt Flynn as a free agent. The Seahawks are no closer to solving the QB situation now than they were before 2011.

This is why all the draft handwringing means nothing.

Nice...

What I think is that posters don't realize that the whole scheme is changing, not just the defense switching to the 4-3.

New coaches every where has to make some difference from what we have been seeing.

However, some posters cannot look to the future, they just wallow in the past.
That is exactly right and as far as some dimwit writer grading a draft goes, I could care less about something as stupid as a draft grade.

And I give Jason Cole the worst grade of pseudo-journalists that can pretend to know the nuances of 32 separate team's drafts.

I didn't love it but no way in hell was it the worst.

Lets wait and see how our draft picks do before giving the team an F for the draft. I belive in not paying attention to critics and letting the players in this case speak for them self when the season starts. If they dont play well then maybe he was right but that is an if, I think we drafted better then this article says we did

Great find on the 2012 Seahawks draft. Could this guy have been any more wrong?
To be fair, at the time, that was basically the same critique he's making of this draft. Didn't really hit needs early, and I probaly would have said the same thing about that draft.

What Cole is, is just another talking head that sites like Yahoo publish. He's a shock jock at best, and an echo at worst. He has no expertise or experience, he's just a guy who happened to get hired. It might be interesting to read opinions, but his really have no validity.

Yahoo sports has paid writers working for them, bleacher report has 15 year olds writing articles.

And the quality is eerily similar, so whats wrong with that picture?

Point is bleacher report anyone with a modem and a keyboard can write articles for them, yahoo sports is much more reputable source, you may not agree with everything written.

Yahoo has a writer named Chris Chase that is easily the worst journalist in the world.

Maybe a few paid guys, but they have a network of fan type bloggers that they publish as Yahoo Sports similar to BleacherReport.

Jason Cole just flat out doesn't like black people. Also, he took his mother out to dinner at a pretty nice Japanese steak house, and didn't even so much as offer to pick up the bill. Even though he makes 6 figures and she is living off her very modest retirement money.

The draft was a C+.

In Craigslist a few days ago they were looking for a writer to man a sports blog. They paid 1.10 for every 1000 hits.

It was Yahoo.

I normally don't have a truck with a journalist. I figure they have access I don't have and can know things I am not privy to.

They can be wrong when they inject opinions. But by and large they see and hear things I do not.

But this ad was looking for someone to write sports blogs. No journalism degree required.

About all they asked was you could fog a mirror.

So you decide what you think about that.

I guess actual NFL employed front offices and scouts opinions pale in comparison to Todd McShay, Mike Mayock and Walter Football. Welcome to teh intrawebbings.

"I'm enthralled with him," one scout said. "He's a first-rounder to me. If people don't like him they're crazy. He's better than (Peter) Konz and (Kevin) Zeitler from last year. He was the best offensive lineman Wisconsin had in 2011. He's a bull. Smart. He's better than (David) DeCastro."

"Wisconsin guys have played well in the league," an AFC personnel man said. "Frederick can play center, but I think he's going to play guard. I think he's a second-round pick, but he may go in the back end of the first because there's not that many centers."

Don't understand why we or anyone cares. People with brains know that you can't judge a draft until a few years down the line.
