Cowboys Hard Knocks Recap, 8/5

I will do some tonight, then finish tomorrow, know its not like seeeing it on film, but will do the best i can.

Started out with Terrell Owens running on the beach, showing Witten talking to CJ his little boy, then went to Wade Philips looking at tv of media coverage of Cowboys last season, and Tony Romo, kinda grimmacing just a tade when they showed the Cowboys losing last 2 playoffs gmes and showing the fumbled snap at field goal attempt and the interception Romo threw in endzone against the Giants.

Michael Irvin says with all the talent jerry jones has acquired this offsesaon its about wining, win a superbowl. Showing guys hitting sleds, taking water to cool off, to catching passes.

I will probably bunch a lot of sentences together, so bare with me.

Showing Cowboys helmet with star, then putting on the star on helmet, back to witten changiing a diaper. Witten says this is one thing i wont miss when camp starts. wittens wife talking about cj saying probably dada and that will break your heart. How determined witten is and talented. Then going to bennett TE from cleaning up poop from his little dog, telling him bad dog. Bennett shwing Cowobys practice field, and maybe using moped.

Tony Romo at kids camp talking about being precise, on target nad not wasting time. Then to Romos family father, mother, sisters and brothers i think, then back to Witten, cj is crying.

Cowboys arriving at camp on airplane, as usual cheerleaders stepping off first.

Romo met at airfield, then signing autographs. Talking about cowboys past winning 5 superbowls, but current one not, exert,

Cowboys arriving at Oxnard, baggage being lost by some players, bennett lost his suitcase, about 27 players with their pass keys couldnt get into their rooms, hurd is laughing becasuse he cant get in room. Romo couldnt seem to get into his room either.

Then you know who drives up, T O, T O says whats up adam, keep noise down, noise down, Adam Jones says there he is, someone says Austin i think he has to get down to 215, and T O says I dont have to worry like you guys, why, one player says, how much do you weigh, and T O says too sexy, and adam jones says that guy is crazy, adam goes back into his room.

Showed getting equipment together. Then to rich dam..... the press guy, Rich takes some digs at Romo, know your stuff or you wont be a cowboy. then to jerry jones, showed beach, pelican, etc. Anyway, press agent introduces wade then jerry. Jerry says, some people think i can sell things, he says 5 things, first ask for the money and ive forgotten the other 4. Cowboys are a big deal, i like playing on broadway, that he could be doing anything in the world he wanted to do, but wanted to be hear with cowboys.

Then, they started showing everything, and i mean everything from silly to funny to stupid to good coverages of cowboys playing in scrimmages.

Then, talked about what to do with terry glenn, then they are going to waive him, talking to glenns agent, wait he says 2 weeks, jerry says he thinks no one is going to sign him.

Showing keyshawn Johnson, jerry jones sahing to keyshawn could be a spot here for you, keyshawn says dont start that. Then, they show jerry talking to Hurd and earn that job. Showing crayton now, dropping ball at 30 against giants,

crayton says i use that as fuel, showing him going up and over 20 to get a ball, but he uses that drop last year as fuel and motivation. Now, use that oopen spot opposite T O to make more plays, crayton making lots of plays.

Now showing adam jones, waiting to get reinstated by commissioner, jerry joens he has chance to mess up or turn around and make himself to be the best. Campo says he is a competitor, talking about most skill that most players havent seen at CB. Now adam catches 6 balls on punts, wade says amazing. Wade talking to Irvin.

someone asked if you have this on tape, he would love to see it, i think it was stephen jones, then shows adam jones catches 6 punts. Crayton says d... i cant let him out do me.


Ring master is Wade phillips, they name off who wade coached against. Coaches he coached against, tom landry, shula, parcells, etc.

Jerry Jones says wade said i feel good about my reputation as a football coach and i want to be thought of well as a head coach and have success and motivate me as head coach of the cowboys, and jerry siad he didnt want jason garrett to talk to the 2 teams in offseasno to become head coach. . And jerry says wade talked him into keeping jason garrett, for whatever tht is worth Jerry said we can win more than 13. tank johnson says hey there were 13 probowlers last year, we have 5 more players that can be pro bowlers. showed footage of tank johnson doing hand drills with defensive line coach.

wade says everyone talks about expectations, but i dont expect anymore of you, than what you expect of yourself, wade said premature to talk about super bowl, we dont even have a football team yet.

Then talked about season can be a slog and slow, then they show a slog walking across a beach .

Now to stephen jones, having contract talks to get felix jones signed. jerry Jones said what are you thoughts jason, jason says mendenhall is a power every down back and we hvae one here in barber, but felix can be a compliment to barber, then cowboys high five getting felix in draft.

Back to stephen jones discussing about felix signing him with eugene parker, they go back and forth, then get it done, and get felix back to camp on redliner. Felix met a linebacker head on, and the linebacker anthony spencer could have destroyed felix if he wanted too. Then, they showed barber on his key blocks, then the awesome block that barber made on smith a linebacker.

back to felix walking around at night with demarcus ware, walking talking about fans, felixs dream, demarcus gets him around by a fence, then it happens, splash, adam jones dumps a bucket of water on felix, felix says you got me, laughing.

Then showing a farmer tiling land, and someone picking strawberries, then they showed a table shaking, due to the earhquake. Then to jason garrett saying they were in study room, and they were talking to a QB and he finally got it, the play down and then boom earthquake, jason says come on guys thats a joke.

Then to T O, he looks awesome guys, like romo says he works his butt off, he is slimmed down from last year, seems faster, quicker and stronger, showing good catches in scrimmages. lots of film, then t o tshirts, i win, i block, i catch, i score, i tackle, etc, Man on Man tank johnson arms are huge fans.

then showing one of T O other tshirs, one of them is I love, adam sees it, says I love, then adam jones walks off witht the shirt.

Then to competition of T O against Adam jones, this is where I will break guys, lots of footage of t o aganst adam in footage.

Back to T O, showstopper, balls





are being put right in his hands by romo, stephen jones leaning back in chair and saying T O putting on a show, campo says he strikes fear in players. WR coach sherman says he is something special. Garrett says with his hard work effort and going on the field showing same desire it rubs off on other players.

Jerry Jones says he is one of the top 5 players he has seen since Jerry has been with the Cowboys. T O says i got adam jones calling me out in front of everybody, witten says, he is calling yuou out, lots of footage film T O and adam going at eaach other. EVen Romo said I saw him, but Pacman was there.

Tank Johnson shows a banana and two red somethign for the rookies, to give name, signing bonus and song. Drew cant think of his name TE sings best song, everyone cracks up with the banana like microphone they have to sing to.

Keon Lattimore is being shown going up hte steps and he slips, on passes he drops balls, but very physical running up hte middle. Garrett tells him to finish, then when its your time to run, be ready to go, know your assigmnets, have your gloves, etc ready, he wasnt ready.

Keon calls his big brother Ray Lewis, big bro, talking about practice, feeling good, taking everthing, ray told him dont take breaks, be ready, study bible and stay focused.

Day 8 of camp;
Patrick Crayton finally ties Adam Jones on catchign punts of 6 total. Crayton tries for 7 but cant make it.

showing sled work by defensive linemne, now bigg davis is getting water break cooling off. Now for healing, what do you think yoiu fans think you have to do to heal, yep, get in a bucket or tub of ice water. ONe guy says oh man, oh mama. Columbo says its all about recovering, if you cant you cant practice.


Showing Romo signing autographs, true joy for him is a pigskin meeting his receivers hands. In March crayton is with the guys that are playing basketbal, and throwiing fooballs, crayton says dude i dont want to catch those hard throws from you, but later he says thats what you want a guy that hates to lose.

Showed lots of oohhhhhhhhhh and ahhhhhhhhh romo throwing beautiful balls.

Now Irvin getting on campo being back with cowboys. Campo with strained voice, sayiing i am home now, enthuasism breeds and brings enthusasism. Orlando slips on a ball, campo gets on him, but next time orlando learned from it.

wade says do we need to tell newman if he knew wally tip or somethign like that, a guy that got replaced by another guy.

then it happens, guess what fans, someone pulls down campos pants in practice in huddle, then wade makes a rule no pulling down pants

wade says i am not going to overwork this team, your going to be ready and fresh when season starts, garrett says our philopsphy is to go out work hard and be efficeint and get off of field, tank says by attrition is keeping players in shape but injury free by start of season.

now to roy williams, about the camp rule not hitting players straight up. Roy is alot slimmer, doing things better than end of season, campo says he is getting better. He has ability to do whatever we want him to do.

Now to bennett, jerry jones calling bennett on draft time, aohhhhhhhhhh , you cant understand him, but bennett says its a blessing to be with cowboys. Ciwoski the head scout, says he is alittle inmature, you need to keep your foot on his neck and dont give him an inch. Then John Garrett works and works him, lots of mountain scenery, but one guys says bad body language now and then. The Cowboys focus on Bennett watching Witten and learning from him. Now on Witten great film of him, when bennett comes up in film session witten hollers out your name, bonus and song. Bennettt gives that, and guys chill him about not getting enough maybe, but bennett doesnt give a song, just i love the beach and walks off. Tank Johnson gets up and does a little dance foot shuffle. Bennett is a huge huge TE fans,

talking about main goal getting to the superbowl, 2 players have super bowl rings, brad johnson and my favorite sleeper player, coming up with name below, they show you know who, strahan, zach points out strahan, then brad johnson getting 2 rings.

now to one of my favorite sleeper players, todd lowber, we need to keep this guy some way, at least for a year, this guy is 6-3, 205 with 4.34 with 41 1/2 inch vertical leap, even T O says he has great speed. Now this guy lacks mentally knowing routes, how to run, not playing football, or playing it, having only played basketball. I am thinkiing this guy reminds me of guys like cornell green, billy joe dupree, TE for chargers that didnt play football. He does pull players like T O aside, he shows him get your head over your toes and come out of it. He has ambition and ability, he isnt or doesnt look very phsyicall, looks like he needs a good offsesaoning of working, weiight lifting. But like T O says he has speed, speed.

Now to Garrett, put you to be the best player you can be, and help us win ballgame, play with a swagger, what does that mean, Owens, Witten, have it, if you dont have swagger find the door. Garrett went on to say that how he learned was the coaches that stayed on his butt, and made him work, work, now he apppreciates them, so he is telling the young players, work and study, get that swgger. Ending with T O running on the beach again.

Next on hard knocks, how they dress off the field, weight lifting, go to HBO.com to ask your cowboys a question. And best thing in camp and shows the mark of a good player is competition. Yep, this player said it, and I still dont believe he said it due to his pouting some, but greg ellis says he loves competition, come on greg, you just got through griping and complaining the last 2 years about your job, and you worrying players like spencer taking your job, getting more reps. Be real. Thats it fans,

hard hitting and lots of it.

thought its kinda funny, when felix jones, signs the contract, and stephen jones tells him, there is your signing bonus, its a #20 dollar bill on the table, and stephen then whispers to him, can i borrow some money?

to me was funny

jerry jones says 5.4 on scale of earthquake, and stephen jones says, boy oh boy, i dont think they might not want to go to oxnard again if earthqukes get frequent

T O comes out with big eyes and says did you see that, about earthquake

again all the balls that romo is throwing to T O are on the money, again though, you might now have all passes that werent there, not shown on film, so take that for whatever its worth

some lady was with TO in apt he is unboxing his clothes, etc,
he says i love me some me shows t shirt and girl laughs

T O says im an enterperneur, tank laughs,

good footage of adam on T O, some good breakups, but later T O gives adam a double move and flies by adam

T O says if you werent so short adam you might have got it, adam says if you didnt give me those double moves, i would have gotten u

on the banana, it was plums with the banana used as a mic, that was tanks ideal i think;

someone put up about Keon the brother of ray lewis that hbo strung together just some bad plays that Keon did, and not some of the good stuf, so take thats what its worth, i hear he is a load when running since he is a big halfback

on todd, he just would blow by some dbs with his deep speed, but needs to learn his routes, like amondola had to teach or show him some route running what to do, so did brad johnson,

sherman wrs coach said you got to do the way its meant to be run, not your way, i think this guy is a year away from being good, i am like jimmy johnson said one time, SPEED KILLS,

now and then you find a wr with true speed that works out, and the old tom landry theme, give a guy 3 years if you see alittle something before you cut him, im not saying 3 years, to me, he was with the vikings and giants last year, on practice squad some;

he needs one more year, bulk up some in offseason, get cut like stanback has done this year, stanback looked good too, from what i saw on films

thats about it, rewatching, trying to put up what i mgiht have missed,

romo was throwing some perfect passes and some right between defenders,

on roy, talked getting on him for hitting protected players,

roy said just setting the tone coach, now i like that, set the tone in practice

whatever this means for guys that know football taught it etc, coaches said, slow out of his break alittle, but getting better, and he had a good camp,

roy looks mean and sliim some, thats what i want, i want roy to step up like he can, have that swagger attitude, study film and be ready for what teams are going to attack him, know where the play is

on Bennett, like ciwoski head scout said, you have to step on his neck some, get on him, john garrett was telling him to keep his chin strap snapped, keep football in his left arm and not fumble, cowboys dont fumble

bennnett is huge, now if from what i saw, he gets an attitude that im the man, and knock heads like shockey did his first year, then he might really be something because he really is huge and big, tall too

todd lowber, he was found by the cowboys through jason garretts father, todd admits there are no excuses, he just has to study and work hard, no breaks,

jason garrett on expectations, main thing, STUDY, you cant play here if you dont know the play, i like jason garretts tempo, talking about swagger, and campo talking to orlando scandrick, when scandrick ssayin the player was up, and campo grabs him by the chest, and says to scandrick, i know, go get him

tank johnson was battling with number 71, and pushing him back, 71 was kinda holding his own and tank grabbed 71's face mask
