Did everyone forget the way Marinelli runs his defense? It is a rotation defense to keep fresh rushers

Right...Marinelli employs the "Sun shines on a dead dog's *** once a day" defensive line philosophy.

So four below average rushers are better than two excellent ones?

Does the Mirinelli principle work w running backs....two average backs are better than a probowl back?
Or how about safeties- so Heath+ Danny McCray + Allen ball > earl Thomas

Does Jerry plan on going to the ********** with his war daddy?

Why do people repeat the terms Jerry says?

Did everyone forget the way Marinelli runs his defense? It is a rotation defense to keep fresh rushers, it is not the Parcells defense where a Ware stayed on the field the whole game. Our D-line does not play anywhere near a 100 percent of the defensive snaps in a game. If you want to use Jerry's words (big mistake) of "a" war daddy, it should really "2" war daddies because you really are counting on two guys at a spot (i.e. RDE) to get 12 to 15 sacks a year or more.

Even if we had the opportunity to draft Garrett, he would only play probably at the most 60 percent of the D snaps. Something to think about.

What were we thinking
You're right of course

In fact if Garrett were available we should pass on him and draft 2 JAGs because a rotation of JAGs is better than having someone like shatter as your blue chip DE

The question also is, how low will you sink in defending the idiocy of our FO? I guess the answer is obvious from your post

It looks like you "forgot". He wasn't focused so much on rotation when he had the top quality players like he did in Tampa with Warren Sapp and Simeon Rice or McFarland. He wasn't making sure to take those guys off the field to keep them fresh. Everybody wants to have depth, but you're not taking your star players off the field - if you have them - to replace them with lesser talent. Rotation is a thing when you have a lot of mediocre talent at the same or near the same talent level.

Planning to add a double-digit sack defensive end this off season isn’t just wishful for the Dallas Cowboys– it’s highly unrealistic. It’s time to adjust expectations.

It’s no secret the Dallas Cowboys want a double-digit sack machine to man the right defensive end spot. A “war daddy”, as owner Jerry Jones calls him, has been on the Cowboys wish list ever since the now-retired Demarcus Ware was released three seasons ago.

Unfortunately for the Cowboys (and 50% of the NFL) finding a war-daddy isn’t that easy.

I'd settle for a balanced defense loaded with players capable of performing their roles... having no weak spots is better than having a couple of 'stars' on the squad.

From the small glimpse we saw last season, with his tongue hanging out of his mouth because of being out of game shape, Gregory looked like that guy. He looked head and shoulders above the rest of the group. Oh well.......:(

The truth is that the Cowboys would do well to welcome more than just one "war daddy" into the fold. Pray we strike gold in the upcoming draft.
