Rocky, have you seen the team that Jerry is trotting out there as of late?

I don't blame anyone for being heated at the thought of blowing through all of our draft capital the next two years to try and save what is likely a lost season sitting at 3-5-1 with the worst defense in the NFL.

I love Williams as a player and the Wilson trade was wise, but why the heck didn't we even attempt to build a competitive roster during the offseason if the plan was to win this year? It just seems like manic and schizophrenic decision making with no actual strategy.
It was horrible strategy and should’ve been done, or something similar, before the season. But nothing I can do about it and for sure not going to crap all over it.

Bland looks the worst of the bunch to be honest. He was responsible for 2/3rds of the passing yards against Arizona. He was utterly victimized. Jerry absolutely overpaid for Bland.
Bland actually has been consistently strong in coverage across his career. He just stunk last night. If this continues it's time to worry, but right now the Cardinals game is hopefully an outlier performance.

Fair enough.

I just think we could have had a Lombardi in hand in 2021, 2022, or 2023 if we had made a trade like this in one of those seasons and I am genuinely disappointed that we only make a trade like this when we are nearly dead in the water rather than when we are just a last step away.

He has been consistently weak to average in coverage. He has made up for it one year with huge splash plays. I’m okay with him in the slot but he’s not good on the outside against receivers with a little size, or in other words opposing 1’s. I don’t think you should pay top dollar for a CB with such serious limitations, hence my opinion Jerry overpaid here.

Agreed, should have just paid Lewis and did a wait and see on Bland.

Hopefully Shavon Revel and Caelon Carson end up being the long term corners outside and Bland can go back to his natural spot in the slot. It's still an overpay like you said but Dallas needs to start playing guys where they belong.

Perhaps the Fins wanted too much. Sometimes the best trades are the ones you don’t make.
I agree. Feels similar to when Commanders had Snyder and he was trying to fill gaps with big ticket players and ended up looking worse than what they were supposed to. Adding 18mill for him wouldn't have been ideal (esp with 3 DT at 20m+ next year, although I don't see Clark staying around) and doubt the performance would have matched his price tag.

I don't think it's too late for the season, but likely the post season though. Maybe Eberflush will have a chance to better turn the defense into a cohesive unit with getting players like this sooner than later.
