Cowboys have big bucks tied up at DT now

Clark's not staying at that price
Agreed, Clark's deal is really set up so he can be cut.
None of it is guaranteed,
So we save all 21.5 by cutting him without any dead cap.
We don;t even need to wait until June 1.

Also, Osa's deal is set up so we can exit after next season.
I think it's 20.5 of his 24.5 cap hit for 2027 can be saved with a June 1 cut.
So it's up to Osa.
Perform like a 20 mil DT or get cut.

We could. But if they want money next year Clark costs nothing to cut and saves 21 million. If they make a move at DT after this season, which I think they will, it will be Clark because that clears a lot of cap space to pay Pickens
All 3 of the DT's will be here through 2027, you don't acquire talent to release it, all 3 and Pickens fit easily in the cap space they have which is significant. Then you reduce it further with getting out from Diggs and Steele.

Haven’t checked his contract but it’s new so may be Clark the odd guy out since cost nothing to cut him

I think people are going to be really surprised to find out how little cap room there is. People listen to Jerry too much.

I didn't mean as Clark or Odighizuwa. Im saying Williams lets us move on from Odighizuwa if he isnt worth his contract in 2027
We do have an out from Osa in 2027 but it does have 12m in dead money, which could be spread into 2028 if we do post June 1st

Don't have to listen to Jerry can look at the cap and contracts in a lot of places. We are working in a 2 year window now with that in mind yo can manipulate the cap easily.

There’s a ton. Diggs and Steele are 100% gone after the year. That frees up 41 million. Dak restructure frees up another 28 million.

Moving forward. Don't pay CBs 90M when you got Dollar Tree (DT) on the Dline.

We just added another 64m in new 2026 money for Williams, Clark, Logan, Bland, Osa and Luepke.

Another $16m in new money for Tyler Smith on top of what he was already due

Another $10m new for Ferguson.

Steele will be $10m dead money
Diggs will be $6m dead money

So, that’s a total of $106m new money added to 2026

Hell, we still have $16m in Zack Martin’s dead money counting against us next year. (And Mazi $1.6m)

We’re already committed to 42 players in 2026, at a deficit of -$15m and that doesn’t even count Diggs salary.

Dak is scheduled for $74m so he’ll restructure and Quinnen may be interested in an extension, but the idea that we have any decent money for free agents or even GP, is just hope without some serious work, like cutting Logan and Clark for instance.

Like I said. People are going to be surprised.

Honestly I do not have a problem paying that money if the DL is great. But I do think they move Clark in the off season. I don't know what his value is but I cannot imagine they get back a 3rd round pick for him.

Jones Crew frustrates me. This should have been 2 years ago. How many playoff defeats and crushed seasons before the Jones Boys pick up on how much Chris Jones means for that KC Squad? Could have traded those picks that were wasted on Mazi or Schoo for DT when we had a defense worth a crap that just needed a dominant run stuffer. Could have had DQ's aggressive pass rush with Micah, and some corners not yet hobbled.

Clark is not tradable due to his contract.

He either plays on his current deal (highly, highly unlikely as there is no guaranteed money left and he is nowhere near worth $20M a year at age 31 in 2026 and no other team would do a deal for him on that contract) or he gets cut and he can sign with any team including but not limited to Dallas.

So either Clark agrees to a new deal for less $$ in Dallas or signs to play elsewhere in 2026 and if it is the latter he would not count in the compensation pick formula.

Clark is clearly not the player he once was. There shouldn’t even be a debate on whether he’s brought back at his price next year. If he’s willing to renegotiate a much cheaper deal he’d be a very good rotational 3rd DT, but nowhere near a $21M player.
