Carr would be a bargain at the veteran's minimum of about 800K and he is drastically overpaid at his current salary of 8M. There is some number in between that would match his value with his salary.

Carr probably gets 4m on the open market. That is the lowest they could go and keep him and is the best option imo.

If not acceptable then June 1st cut him, save the 8m and draft a replacement or sign a similar veteran FA.

Scandrick, Moore and hopefully Claiborne means they aren't desperate.

They can free up 8M in 2015 by making Carr a June 1st cut. They can sign another CB for a cap hit of less than 8M.

I would rather pay Murray the 8 million that Carr is getting, cut Carr and draft a cornerback with a second or third round pick. But that's just me.

I think they will draft a cornerback with a premium pick even if Carr is retained.

I think our problems at CB are mostly overblown. The real limitations are up front. Don't get me wrong, we could easily upgrade three of those 5 primary DB positions with a premium pick. And we can probably upgrade one or two of them in VFA without breaking the bank. But the easiest upgrades are still up front.

Carr was playing better than he's typically given credit for the second half of last season, too.

They will need to make those decisions before they know who they can draft.

Going into the draft with CB as a must have would be bad.

I wouldn't be worried about planning to draft a RB because there are so many options at that position and that player would just be part of a rotation.

If Carr is gone with no FA replacement, then the draft pick RB would have to start.

I think you missed my original point, or have changed gears on me. Maybe you meant CB not RB. Murray is a much more dominant player than Carr is at his position for less money. If we let Murray go, then we have to invest a premium pick in his replacement. The same is true with Carr. I think it is pick your poison. Then again, if you keep Carr you might have a rookie RB and Carr and neither one of them play worth a ****. LOL

Yes, that should have been CB in the last sentence.

My point is that if I had to go into the draft with a must have at a position, I would prefer that position to be RB because this draft is deep at the position. It would be much more difficult to find a starting CB in this draft than a rotation RB, IMO.
