Basically played the whole year without Lawrence. He hasn't done much and the team is 12-2.

Hard to believe that the team is doing so well with no contribution from Romo, mediocre contribution from Dez, and pretty much nothing from Lawrence. If someone at the beginning of the season told you Romo would get hurt, Dez would be so-so, and Lawrence would be hurt and suspended, you would have thought the Cowboys would be battling Cleveland for last place.

This is a big blow. Lawrence when healthy is clearly our best DL. We need this guy to return at some point for the playoffs.

I'm not sure it's a big blow. The guy has 11 freaking tackles all season long. I think he takes snaps away from other players that can give us a little more. We have played our best defense the last two/three games and guess who wasn't in the lineup.

Just my opinion.

"Saturation" drafts don't work.

Plus there are other positions of need on this club.

To go into any draft where you choose need over the best player available (within reason) is going to get you into serious trouble. This team has approached the draft that way– Choosing need instead of following their board.

If that first pick in the first round is an OT or a CB or a Safety or even a WR based on value... Then I'm A-OK with the Cowboys selecting him.
I was exaggerating a bit, my point was a lot of time and resources need to be put into the front 7.

Jerry and Co. need to build the D line like they built the O line. A dominant D line allows you to have an average Secondary.
The problem with this is that you can still get quality OL in the late first, but DL usually thin out earlier and you also have to wait on them to develop longer. We also got 2 of those 3 OL as top 15 picks.

He is second on the team in hurries
Pressure is what you are after
He does provide pressure

We have to address D-line in the draft, preferably the first round................we can only smoke and mirrors this thing for so long, we need a talent infusion.

I would add two FA DE (tier 2) and draft at least 1 more. I would go into off-season with mindset that DE position needs to be completely rebuilt. Let FAs & draft pick compete with Irving & Mayowa (who are both on very favorable contracts).

* Never extend DE who has back issues (tank)
* Never depend on a player with substance abuse issues (Gregory)
* Never expect consistent pressure from DT playing DE (Crawford)

Well, he's got 3 weeks to get healthy...so we got going for us.

Randy Gregory coming back can help fill some of the voids...

This offseason is the time to start building the defensive line into as equally talented as the offensive line, build from the trenches out...

Not even close. Mayowa, Collins, and Irving have all been more impactful than Lawrence this year, even when he's playing.
