The very last line in each post in that thread right up through the 2007 season is a thread about each season where people do share some pictures and memories.

Without a doubt I recommend Peter Golenbock's book, "Cowboys Have Always Been My Heroes." In my opinion, it is the best Cowboys History anthology in print because it tells you stories behind the scenes.

Not just that thread. Click the link at the very last line in each post in that thread. It will take to a thread dedicated just to that season. So if you want to read people's thoughts about any given year, click on that link. THUMPER posted some great stuff in those threads. Everyone who contributed in those threads added great stuff.

You will not regret either. Those threads are top notch and that book is worth the cost. You can probably get it on e-bay like I did. I got mine for 3 bucks.

Oh yeah, "God's Coach" about Tom Landry, worth reading too. You will gain a lot of insight into the man himself.

Pretty cool that you are that interested in the history behind the Cowboys. My hat is off to you.

I have been a fan since 1967 or 68 timeframe. There have been lots of ups and downs, good times and bad over the years.

Have fun educating yourself.

I naturally want to win another Super Bowl soon, like all of us do. But I think it would be great for Cowboy fans that have never experienced it too.

Roger Staubach was so exciting to watch. The guy was as clutch as you get. Whenever you hear about this qb or that qb has X # of 4th quarter comebacks, they didnt even talk about that before Staubach. He started it. He was out all year in 1972, seperated shoulder in the preaseason. He got a few snaps in game 14 but Morton still started the playoff game. Staubach came in LATE 4th quarter, none of this 13 minutes to go stuff, it was like 4 mnts. And he pulled them from about 17 points back to win. If he was healthy that year they would have repeated and we wouldnt be hearing about the undefeated Dolphins for the rest of our lives.

I remember Cowboy haters making fun of a couple of things. Landry decided to call the plays and for a short while Staubach was the only qb not calling plays. Oh man did I hear it. It wasnt long before no qbs were calling plays. Then there was the shotgun. Landry resurected it from like the 40's or something and had Staubach do it in 1975 when we were struggling a bit (missed playoffs the year before, had 12 rookies). It was a gimmick the haters said. Now some qbs play shotgun all game. Oh by the way they made the Super Bowl that year and were a play away from beating the supposed greatest team ever.

The Boys were trendsetters to say the least.

Oh man I could write a book on memories.

You can pick up "Stadium Stories" By Cowboys announcer Brad Sham on Amazon for a couple of dollars, it's a nice book, then maybe "Greatest Team Ever" about the 90's Cowboys.

1. Captain Comeback
Cowboys 35, Commanders 34, Dec. 16, 1979
In what is considered one of the great games in NFL history, Roger Staubach rallied his team from a 34-21 deficit in the fourth quarter to clinch the NFC East title.
The Cowboys scored 21 consecutive points to take a 21-17 lead. But Washington came right back to lead, 34-21.
No problem for The Captain, who found receiver Tony Hill for an 8-yard touchdown pass with 39 seconds left.
When the day was over, defensive end Harvey Martin threw a funeral wreath in the Commanders locker room.

what I remember most is the Commanders laughing and celebrating on their sideline after they went up by 13
