Great game. I wish I could have enjoyed it more. Instead, I spent way too much energy screaming and yelling. I think I should be one of those fans who knows the ending before watching the game. It would certainly be better for my health.
Anyway, Tony Romo was a stud. He had two really bad plays when he threw that pick when he should have thrown it away and when he fumbled twice in the endzone. Those plays spotted the Eagles 14 points, but he really came back strong. I think that tells you everything you need to know about him. He led the Cowboys up and down the field all night, and the offense was almost unstoppable. He's so much better in the pocket, although that storyline is getting played out. But the guy put up 300+ yards again to go with 3 TDs. Stud.
Marion Barber really impressed me tonight too. The Eagles' defense was fast, and they were sure tacklers - gang tacklers at that. But Barber kept pounding away. I thought the biggest difference in the game was seeing Barber get going a little more in the second half, and I'm so glad that Garrett stayed with the run today.
Felix Jones didn't get the ball much in the offense, but in his few snaps, he had a couple of "hold-your-breath" moments. He stole the show with his returns though. He had somewhere around 250 yards in returns, including the big TD in the first quarter. He was absolutely a weapon though, and I kept help but think that he's going to become more and more of a weapon in the future.
TO was awesome tonight. He only had 3 catches since one of his big gains was called back because of a hold on a lineman, but the guy certainly made a huge impact on the game. He scored a couple of times and had the Eagles attention all game long. Say what you will about the guy, but he absolutely dominates a game by his presence alone.
Jason Witten ended up being one of the big stars of tonight's game. Witten went over 100 yards receiving, and that was despite a separated shoulder in the first quarter. He's carving out a niche as one of the real tough guys of the NFL, and he continues to show that he's the best TE in the game.
I thought the O-Line played really well. The Eagles are famous for causing all kinds of trouble, but the line really held up. They didn't seem to get rattled, and they gave Romo quite a bit of time. I thought that group got stronger in the second half too with their run blocking.
Great effort from Jay Ratliff tonight. I thought he was a force in the middle of the defense. Canty also made some noise, but he always seemed close to making a play without actually getting the big reward.
Greg Ellis came up really big. He seems to play well against the Eagles. Ware was pretty relentless and got a lot of attention tonight. Zach had a couple of nice moments too. McNabb really played well though, and he had the defense scrambling with his ability to escape and make something happen. Good to see Spencer back.
The secondary had some hard times tonight. Good to see Newman back. Hate to see Roy getting hurt. I thought Mike Jenkins played really well. Actually, I thought all of the rookies flashed tonight. That has to make management happy.
Nick Folk has made everyone forget about kickers pretty quickly, hasn't he? He's a great weapon to have, and he was the difference in the game tonight.
