Huge Adrian Peterson fan here.

I just found out it funny that he was using Duke to "discredit" you after the whole Brandon Everage debacle. They just both happen to be Sooners.
Every person has missed on Draft picks and players making the transition from college to the Pros. There is no such thing as someone who is even 90% right about who will make it and who won't.

If he thinks that where Duke Robinson was drafted has any bearing on what I know about football then he is sadly mistaken. If he can prove that Robinson already has no future in the NFL then he will have me over a barrel.

Where someone is taken in a Draft has absolutely nothing to do with a simple concept of why teams would trade for a player a club will probably release. It has nothing to do with it at all.

That was a pathetic jab at best.

I would think Ellis would be an upgrade over Pierre Woods at LOLB.
Yep, I never realized they were that bad off this year.

Ellis is probably still capable of getting you 8 sacks a year. So there are teams interested- especially if they have only one guy capeable of really getting those kind of numbers- having two really helps your D.
I could see us getting a 5th for him.

Ya, but you know the Belicheat system, he'll find a way to make it work.

Wouldn't be shocked if we got a 5th.

When they asked the TV guys after the draft "What was the biggest surprise of the draft", I remember one of them saying it was the fact that even with 12 picks the Pats did nothing to address their need for pass-rushing linebackers.

I'll take anything we can get for Ellis.

If we get a pick I'll gladly eat crow.

NE isn't exactly hurting for picks.........

What's the hold up?

Take away Ware......

Is Ellis still an 8 sack guy?

I say no.

You don't trade for someone of his caliber and contract when you know he is going to be released.

The one curve ball is if he is willing to rework his deal before trade.

And it's not like we just decided to cut/trade him.

He's been available since the 4th round of the draft.

People holding out hope for a trade are pissing up a rope. I'll be fine if we simply release him.

I have no problem with just cutting ties. I view him a lot like TO, personally i've had enough.

He will be released and he will wind up going to the Panthers.

Ellis is from North Carolina and he will be their semi-insurance policy for the Peppers situation and add another pass rusher to the mix.

And I know he's not Peppers, but he can play DE and should be looking to go back to that spot now that he's on his last legs anyway.

Plus he will come cheap because he gets to go home.

I agree that he goes to Carolina.
Well that right there should be reason for a team like the Patriots to pony up a pick to make sure that doesn't happen.

I don't think NE is as desperate for pass rushers as people are making them out to be.

They had every chance in the world to draft Everette Brown, Connor Barwin or the kid from Utah.

They could have easily traded up for Larry English if they wanted.

In the years they won the SB they didn't have anyone close to Ware coming off the edge (15-20) sack guy.

I can see Ellis to New England. Anyone that thinks they aren't hurting for pass rushers hasn't checked the average age of their front 7 let alone their numbers against the run the last couple seasons. Not saying Ellis is their saving grace because he isn't, but as a proven player he would most likely come at a bargain which is what Belicheat loves.

For what it's worth I don't think Ellis has been the same since the Achilles inury.
