While we're talking Dallas, have heard it might sign DT Amobi Okoye as a backup. Marinelli likes him. Rod wanted Melton, but Chi franchised

I trust Rod. He didn't do much in Houston, didn't really follow in Chicago.

thoughts??

I think I like Marinelli better a position coach then I do Monte as a DC at this point. Short answer I trust Marinelli as a talent evaluator. Strange he cut Brian Price though.

It's crazy this guy will just be turning 26 this coming season. I guess it's not awful to have him on the squad. Young veteran that doesn't command too much cap space? That alone may be worth it.

I have a strange feeling that he is going to become an iggle.

Strictly a backup. Funny, he started out with 4 sacks in his first month as rookie and it took him three years to get the next 4. What is up with that?

According to a friend who is a Texans fan this guy is lazy. I don't know that but that's what he said. Lazy & unmotivated.

Maybe between he and Brian Price we can resalvage one replacement level player for dirt cheap.

Casserly took him 1 pick ahead of Patrick Willis. Ouch. I never really got the love affair when he was drafted. He wasn't nearly the all world athlete people made him out to be, and tested out very mediocre for someone so undersized.

Yeah, they defiantly were not sad to see him go. Then again he didn't fit in Wade's 3-4 scheme and he was was very young. Maybe he matured in Chicago playing with Peppers, Melton and under Marinilli.

Yes, it is amazing that a 25 year old player already has 4 years of NFL experience.

He is the youngest player to ever be drafted in the first round of the NFL Draft at only 19 years old.

this is a good pick up if it happens.
Still on 25 he probably came into the league too early and too young. Hopefuly he's a late developer.
Experienced camp body at thye very least with upside galore.

....I won't lie guys, I didn't know he was still playing....he can't get meaningful reps for Houston because I never noticed him out there. PASS

He played for the Bears the last two seasons. But still just a backup. Had 4 sacks in 2011 for the Bears, only 1 in 2012.

Strictly rotational. He simply isn't as good as his draft position led us to believe.

Still, he's young and has fresh legs which is never a bad combination.

Nothing ever wrong with kicking the tires on a player someone once valued.

I pulled up the Cowboys-Bears game from 2012 on the All-22. Okoye played more snaps than I expected. He was in the game midway through the Bears' first series on defense and continued in the rotation.
