Thank God Denver saved us from ourselves..........I cant believe that we were offering a high 2nd and a high 3rd for player that is not going to see the field for several years.

Whew, that was close.

End it would've been just that… A huge overpay.

According to the trade chart, Denver overpaid by 24 points… That's the equivalent of six draft spots in the fourth round.

Dallas had the following options - their second and fourth, which would have been the closest they could get to what Denver offered. That would've been a full 80 points less then what Denver offered. No way Seattle's going to settle for that. Their only other option would've been their second and third rounders, which would have been an overtime over 115 freaking points.

I'm convinced they tried… Seattle just didn't want it bad enough.

The Cowboys did offer 2nd and 3rd. Which means Cowboys were offering almost a whole extra 100 points over what Broncos offered.

CB McKensie Alexander is still on the board, Billings and A'Shawn Robinson likely will be as well. At this point I'm hoping for Spence.

Ashawn Robinson looks like he's on skates on tape and he cant rush the passer

Once again - since you were obviously in the war room - what DID Dallas offer? The same people who crucify Jerry for not making a trade would have done the same if he had overpaid by one point.

What other factors played a part? Tell us just exactly what Jerry told you?
Denver traded a 3rd rounder to move up from 31 to 26, A 3rd rounder! Think about that. Every year Jerry uses a different excuse for not legitimately addressing the QB. I normally defend Jerry, but not this time. Tell me why does this organization, year after year, refuse to legitimately address the QB position in the draft? Spin away, I'm I'll be waiting.

Yep. That was the target.
The great news is that we have a lot of very deserving targets sitting there for 34 PLUS we get to kkep our 3rd round pick.
Excellent, and something to look forward to.

Jerry, is this you?

I'm okay with it. It does show us that a QB is going to be taken, quite possibly tomorrow.

According to Broaddus, not at 34:

Looking like another version of Stephen McGee coming soon, woohoo!

You don't think there are good prospects left at 34 and 67?
Just asking, because that was all I said.

Yes or no?

OB prospects? Not really. Other positions, sure. Just sick of watching this organization refuse to legitimately address the QB position in the draft, year after year. Different year, different excuse.

I was referring to the fact that
Dodd
Robinson
Ragland
Alexander
Spence
M Thomas
Jack
etc
etc
were all still sitting there.

Anyway, it sounds like they gave a really good offer but got leap-frogged by Denver.
Sometimes you have a trade in place pending that the player is there. If a team jumps in and trumps you at the last second, there's no time to respond.

What a weird statement from Stephen Jones. He knows Romo is at the twilight of his career, but still will not make a legitimate attempt at drafting a legitimate QB prospect.

There's no problem, just a difference of opinion. I would like to use that 2nd rounder on the defense specifically DE. And just because he may be the best qb value in this draft doesn't mean he will be a franchise QB. The way the draft people discussed the QBs in this draft didn't seem too flattering. They kept making a point to say there's no Andrew Luck, or Mariotta, or Manning in this draft. I'd like defense with our 2nd rounder and if we take a chance, let's take it with Hackenburg.

yeah we definately disagree, which is cool of course, but I dont want hackinburg any where near us lol! i just feel he will be a tease and waste of time somewhere between a drew henson and zack mettiberger IMO.

To be fair, i love Carderrell Jones who u could say the same thing about, he could be Quincy Carter but I see a Cam Newton clone with possibly the best arm ive ever seen, dude has never lost and is a champion, I dont mind that he was benched for the guy with better college game skills, Jones is made for the NFL IMO and I happen to like his personality and have read enough from those who truly know him, that he is actually highly intelligent and an overall good guy.

I want D too! but would have loved lynch for basically a 2 and a 3, if he turned out to be closer to Derek Carr or Rothlisberger, then we changed our future for the better.

In that case il just have to wait 4 weeks for Gregory and Laurence and go D heavy next year.

but now that we have our 2, gimme Jack please!!!!!!!!!

Could be the Seahawks wanted to stay in the first round so they could have the 5th year option on the guard they picked. That's something Jerry couldn't offer and Denver could with the 32nd pick.

I guess so.

Trade down in the first round, have the fifth year option and get a low 3rd (#94) or trade out of the first for a high 2nd (#34) and 3rd (#67).

I'm surprised Seattle didn't perfer Dallas' offer. Maybe they liked having an AFC team come up for a QB prospect instead of a NFC foe?

Denver also gave up their 1st rounder, so it was a first and a 3rd. Dallas evidently offered its 2nd and 3rd - the best they had to offer. What's more, the 3rd Dallas offered was 30 picks higher then what Seattle accepted from Denver. Obviously, this was academic of Seattle not wanting to settle for anything less than a first round pick.

Dallas also offered the same palace to the Jets for #20. They didn't want it, either.

Aren't you at least smart enough too now that it takes TWO TEAMS to trade? Dallas was willing to overpay by 115 point, but Seattle said no. Then they accepted a weaker offer from Denver.

That's on Seattle, not Jerry.

You can make your point without saying I'm stupid, especially when your hiding behind your computer screen. Agree to disagree and move on.

You're right. I could have worded that differently and got the point across, so I apologize. Nonetheless, the fact remains that Seattle agreed to a lesser trade with Denver than what Dallas offered. There's no way that's on Jerry.

Its all good. Part of that post was frustration, not just this year, but the past few years, of Jerry not addressing the QB position, given Romo's age and injury history.
