Cowboys may have interest in Colt McCoy

I'm fine with signing him as an emergency 3rd-string QB, but I think Jerry is nuts if he doesn't draft a QB in the first round. I think Lynch is the real deal and he'll likely be there when we draft. We rarely have a draft pick this high. I don't believe our pick will be this high next year because we're more likely to eek out yet another 8 and 8 season. Draft Lynch, and sign McCoy if he's an upgrade to Moore, otherwise keep Moore, but do go with 3 QBs this season. We had four different starting QBs in 2015, so as far as I'm concerned the answer to whether to carry three QBs is now obvious.

I know Romo wants to play all 16 games in '16, but I don't think he will. If we have Lynch ready to come off the bench, we'll have much better chances. There will still be quality defensive players available in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th rounds.

As is typical with this organization, a year too late.

Of course there is better late than never, I suppose. But this year's season will produce a new set of problems we will wish we would have addressed this offseason. Stephen will probably label those new problems priority number one for next offseason. And so the cycle goes.

A year too late? McCoy would not have changed the Cowboys season in 2015.

I think it does when you look at what each of them did to earn their respective victories.

Neither McCoy in 2014 or Cassell in 2015 were the key to their respective teams victories in those games. If anything both QBs less than stellar play was holding each team back.

I hope they sign McCoy and draft a QB.

4-12 happens when you don't have a good plan at QB.

A McCoy signing almost guarantees the top choice to be a QB (thank god). I hope the Lacewell influence will stay away and the FO are aware that the team won't have a chance to draft @ 4 overall again. Then you have Romo (hopefully all season) and McCoy as primary backup to win a few games if Romo misses time (injury length isn't season impacting, etc.) while landing our QB of the future. I say trade up to get Goff/Wetz/Lynch to get your man if need be.

You need to go back and take another look at McCoy's performance in that 2014 game.

Seriously.

May have no choice which is why we need to draft a QB fairly high. We're not like to find a solid answer at backup QB in free agency.

Many teams don't have a quality starter much less backup but please no more from the Browns

If it wasn't for the Browns teams wouldn't have so many QBs to choose from. They'll likely end up taking another one that will be made available in 2-3 years.

Hopefully it's wentz they take. Lol

McCoy career qb rating of 78.9, with 26 td's and 23 int's. Yes! Wins HERE WE COME!

Take a look at his work once he got out of the Cleveland cesspool, a place where nobody does well. I think he's improved significantly since then.

I do think its a mistake just to take one game against us and think he is going to be all that.

Honestly, McCoy would be fine with me, but I don't think he is going to be much better than the other the Moores and other journeymen backups.

I think what will help our backups next year (if we have to use them) is to have a dominant run game like in '14, have Dez be healthy, have a better defense, and have the coaches create a more creative game plan that plays into their strengths.

Every backup QB in the NFL sucks!
There's not a backup QB anywhere who will help us win any better than Weeden/Cassel if Romo gets injured.

Our only option is to draft the 2nd best QB in a weak QB draft at #4 in round one....then we will be fine for the next 15 years! Go Cowboys!

No QB at #4 = ALL IS LOST!
