Cowboys meeting with DE Clowney

Respectfully disagree on Lance - no one else wanted him and we gave up a 4th. Similar to Mingo. IMHO it was just wildcatter swinging for the fences when we might have a legit RB and some other player here. Just my 2 cents.
Yeah but a 4th for a guy the 49ers traded multiple 1st rounders for wasn’t a bad deal.

There was no guarantee they would have taken a RB or any other player with those picks.
It is what it was at the time.
But fans will go on and on and on about it forever in hindsight.

The trade didn't work out, but I don't mind trading a day 3 pick for a young QB with talent either. Maybe the Cowboys paid a little more comparatively, but that's usually what gets the deal done when there are multiple teams involved which was likely the case here.

Some fans act like we traded away a 1st round pick for trash, meanwhile most day 3 picks don't see a second contract with the team that selected them...

The issue I have with the Cowboys specifically doing it is they only improve the team through the draft so they need all the draft capital they can get. That pick ended up being the perfect spot to take a rb that draft but it didn't happen and the Cowboys ended up with washed Zeke. Also Lance's salary was $5 million which also could have paid for a better running back. The Cowboys could have revamped their whole rb room for what the Lance trade cost.

How on earth was Lance a good trade? Just because one team completely over drafted him and gave up a lot more than the cowboys did makes it a good trade even though he’s a scrub at best?

What’s your logic here?

Who cares what the 49’ers gave up for him? That doesn’t make him a good player? I guess if we trade Mazi for a 6th round pick, that makes it a food trade for the other team because we used a 1st on him? Same with Taco?

That reasoning makes zero sense unless you’re Jerry trying to sell the fan base on how smart you are.

Apparently they didn't get him but I bet he's on their watch list if we can't generate pressure without the blitz and if we can't affect Russell Wilson or whatever it is that the Giants are going to throw at us I'm sure they might bring Clowny in but they need to worry about the defensive backs room right now more than anything...

Not sure why they didn't just Tuesday when they knew this just go out and get Gilmore Maybe he doesn't want a non guaranteed post second week type thing I don't know what he plays for but I probably offer him 6 to 8 million but I don't know what he wants but we really need a defensive back more than a pass rusher..

I think he meant at the time the trade was made.

Per multiple sources

It was a good idea Even though he's not signed now he could get signed later I mean when is that guaranteed money thing fall out after week two Some of these veterans can be brought in and you don't have to guarantee their full contract but that also can be a sticking point..

I'm more interesting in wondering why they didn't go after a guy like Gilmore They had to know Tuesday morning that Bland's gonna be out one to three games I mean it might be time to bring in that veteran unless they're really have confidence in this young DB room...

Isn't he now the backup for the Chargers?

Yep. I have no problem with kicking the tires. It was a 4th rounder….they’d rather us use the 4th in their pet cat no one wants.

Jerry, is that you?

Where he was originally drafted should be irrelevant to what you trade for him. This is precisely the problem with how our team is ran.

Yes if you get Mazi for a 6th that is a good desk. Not sure why you are so confused?

Yeah someone already did the “Jerry, is that you?” joke……

The guy was a top prospect. It you can get a second look at a guy you do it.

Geno, Fields, Darnold, Baker….sometimes a change of scenery can help a guy. Crying about a 4th rounder that probably won’t even make the team just seems like wasted energy.
